Situated on five hectares of rolling farmland and forest just outside of Bologna, this former farmer's house was originally part of a larger estate that includes a manor house and converted barn.In 2003, a Russian antiquarian inspired by his love for nature and the area fell in love with the estate and began renovations for a dynamic project that would eventually include the charming B&amp;B as well as an event and social space. The restoration process involved the renovation of each building with special attention to eco-sustainability through renewable energy sources, photovoltaic systems, water catchment, phytoremediation and biomass heating systems. Constructed of concrete, brick and wood, the rustic bones and original materials of the house remain largely intact. The common area on the ground floor features a quaint sitting room and a rustic kitchen while the three bedrooms reside above on the second floor with views of the countryside.Furnished with rustic antiques, the home retains much of the original character and simple charms of the past. The adjacent barn was turned into a spacious and refined loft, with industrial-style interior design and expansive light filled spaces for events and social gatherings and is also available for rent through BoutiqueHomes.   ADDITIONAL FEATURES Daily breakfast included. The newly constructed property boasts a lovely dry garden and saltwater swimming pool shared by its three bed-and-bath suites, and also features a 400-tree citrus orchard stretching beyond the pool.The adults-only property was created for relaxation. Through the large windows and patio doors, the view wanders through the gardens and groves out over the hills to Monti Sibillini National Park.The main lounge includes a fireplace with a library and an adjacent dining room next to a big, fully equipped kitchen that you're welcome to test drive. Breakfast is a culinary walk through the countryside, with local bounty from the gardens and the neighboring farms.  There are four large en-suite rooms and one suite with two bedrooms, each individually designed and created for comfort. It was then inherited by the mayor of Fundão, José Trigueiros. It was in ruins for decades, before being restored and completely transformed into a contemporary design hotel and bed and breakfast by the current owners. Offering hiking trails right out the door, mountain bikes, plus alfresco dining terraces near the generous saltwater swimming pool and pétanque pitch, this intimate country inn’s focus on rest and recreation in Provence’s warm embrace is only one part of its pretty picture.
Inside the heritage structure, the romantic, rural styling continues. Each bedroom suite is unique, with crisp, comfortable, modern furnishings in a subdued natural palette that harmonizes beautifully with the exposed-stone walls and original, terracotta tile floors. <h3 id="around">Around</h3>
The bed and breakfast exudes pure Provençal romance, surrounded by olive trees and lavender fields, with mountain views and hilltop village vistas across its 10 panoramic hectares. It is located within striking distance of the Côte d’Azur and only 10 kilometers from Grasse, the world’s perfume capital. The closest village is Cabris, which offers an exceptional panorama encompassing the coastline from St. Tropez to Nice.
Located down a private dirt road, the property is insulated by dense Mediterranean vegetation and oak, cypress and olive trees. The GR 51, a trail in France's national network of well-marked hiking routes, is accessible directly from the property, and there are e-mountain bikes on site to borrow as well, the region full of biking terrain from expert to beginner. 
The neighboring village of Cabris (3 kilometers) is medieval and lively, a small community that’s traditionally been home to writers and artists, with a good selection of cafes and restaurants. Another nearby medieval village, St Cézaire sur Siagne is particularly dramatic, its stone buildings perched on a rocky outcrop offering 360-degree views. Gréolieres, yet another medieval enclave, is best known for its challenging outdoor activities—canyoneering, climbing, paragliding and mountain biking, as well as tamer pursuits such as fishing and hiking. 
St Paul de Vence, emblematic of Provence’s postcard pretty, hilltop villages, offers a beautifully manicured version of regional stone architecture and a busy community of artists and artisans whose galleries, studios and foundations are open for visits. The Côte d’Azur is a half-hour drive, with legendary destinations such as Cannes, Nice, and St. Tropez all great day trip options.
