The Bassiviere Barn Chic in Aquitaine, France was discovered and restored by a Dutch family. Carefully retaining the original rustic features and restored with modern materials it is the best of old and new. We were especially intrigued by the cool little sleeping nooks found throughout.

“We made them for the children staying in our apartments," its owner told us. "We like to make original hiding/sleeping places. My husband Niels looks at the space we have and invents solutions to use them.

"We don’t have a lot of space in the sleeping areas because we like to have bigger common spaces to live in our apartments, so we had to be creative. Sometimes you don’t have the possibility to move beams so you use them…”

The re-imagined elements combined with the fun and stylish way each space has been adapted for modern living have us wishing we were kids again.
