Designed with a focus on preserving the beauty of Austria’s traditional mountain architecture while creating conveniently modern mountain escapes, the chalets prioritize sustainability, wellness, and family-friendly amenities for luxurious holidays with (or without) the children.

Solid spruce and local larch on the outside, lined with natural clay plaster and ecological wall paints on the inside, these sleek mountain lodges offer 21st-century relaxation inside traditional settings. The high-altitude chalets share a newly installed natural wooden swimming pool occupying a gentle green hollow in the lawn, and both feature private saunas and breathtaking views.

AROUND

Skiing, hiking, tobogganing and cycling begin right outside the back door at Chalet Stolz, set in Austria’s verdant Grossarl Valley south of Salzburg. A minimally populated region of striking beauty, the area is rich in leisure opportunities. More than 40 managed huts offer respite and traditional cuisine along some 400 kilometers of hiking trails. This is a land of high mountain peaks, craggy outcroppings, and deep gorges. Hikers in the area are assured clear lakes, flowering pastures, steep ascents, and the protected grassy summits within the Hohe Tauern National Park. Mountain biking trails cover 140 strenuous kilometers, and there are trails set up for ebikers and pleasure cyclists as well. The Grossarler Ache and the Otzlsee are among Austria’s most pristine fishing waters, and anglers can catch trout, grayling and char. Lakes and streams are also ideal for swimming, and summertime recreation includes tennis, equitation, and golf.

Wintertime fun includes more skiing in the nearby Grossarltal-Dorfgastein, only 10 minutes from the chalets, or enjoying the 760 kilometers of slopes (270 lifts) in the legendary Salzburg Mountains’ Ski Amade. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on some 25 kilometers of dedicated trails in the national park feature dual tracks for skating and classic cross country, and some trails are lit for night skiing. Ski touring enthusiasts will find more than 40 routes of all levels as well. Other winter recreation includes horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating, and tobogganing on the floodlit run right outside the chalets.
