A 12th-Century Monastery Reimagined for Modern Times

Set within the rolling green Valle del Marta, this 12th-century former monastery is a unique and memorable location for a variety of events.
Abandoned for six centuries, the property was discovered in 1990 by a Bolognese engineer and Olympic gold-medalist equestrian who, together with his family, purchased the ruins from a shepherd. An arduous and two-decades-long restoration process of excavation, restoration, and reconstruction was undertaken with the help of Italian archaeologist Giovanna Velluti, returning the property to its medieval splendor.
Composed of a series of structures and a bell tower, the imposing rooms and thousand-year history form a uniquely designed complex of unity and versatility for both intimate gatherings and large scale indoor and outdoor events.
Repurposing and skillfully integrating modern amenities into the property, the Chapter House, Scriptorium, Refectory, Cellarium and Dormitories are all beautifully designed communal spaces that can accommodate up to two hundred and fifty guests inside and up to five hundred guests outside. The church has been fully restored and is a romantic and seamless option for wedding ceremonies. The bell tower has been transformed into a romantic, sky high apartment with stunning countryside views and there are four more modern apartments and a spacious suite with room for up to 35 overnight guests.
The lush grounds and interior courtyard with fountains all overlook the lovely green valley creating a tranquil and expansive setting. There's even room for your horses in the paddocks and stalls, with additional pets welcome. Embracing its agricultural past, the surrounding land has been turned back into an eco-friendly organic farm that produces olive oil, honey, cheeses and medicinal herbs used in producing essential oils.
