This beautiful property on Aegina really stands out from the crowd. A traditional stone building that has been brought up to date with careful attention to detail, it offers all the amenities of a luxury resort, without the fuss. It's a great property for two families sharing, as it has two floors that can be completely autonomous. And there's a lovely garden with a gorgeous pool.
This elegant property certainly defies the cliches for a Greek island villa. A heritage-listed stone structure built in the 1930s, it was recently renovated with great care and respect for its history. It is beautifully situated on Aegina overlooking the Saronic Bay, and surrounded in 5,000 square meters of garden, with its own private swimming pool. It's a luxury Greek villa with a private pool - but so much more.
The villa has two floors, each of which can be accessed separately; however, an interior staircase links the two. Each has full amenities, including kitchens and bathrooms.
We love the villa's breathtaking elegance, with its sweeping wooden floors and chandeliers, its simple color palette with occasional pops of bold design (like the chequerboard floors and splashes of classic Greek art). The garden, with its pistachio trees (an island staple) and pool, is a destination in itself. Simple luxury at its finest.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The villa has air conditioning and heating, television, an alarm system, washer and dryer, mosquito repellant plug-ins, iron and board, hairdryers, and fire extinguishers. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, and soap are provided upon arrival. There is gated parking.
Two bedrooms (one upper and one lower) can be adapted into twin rooms with single beds. Two of the upper floor bedrooms are connected by a door, a great option for families with young children. Two baby cots can also be provided.
AROUND
The property is located 500m from the center of Aegina Town, and only 20m from the sea (across a road). It is within easy walking distance of the town centre with its restaurants, cafés, market and other facilities. The open-air cinema Akrogiali is just a few metres away.
Key local attractions include the Temple of Aphaia, the Kolona archaeological site, the medieval village ruins of Palaiochora, the Agios Nectarios monastery, the Kapralos sculpture museum, and Moni island. For those who want to make day trips to mainland, recommended excursions are the ancient theater at Epidaurus - and, of course, Athens.
