There's plenty of seating on the patios, and a firepit too - so there's always a quiet place to chill out.Owner, interior designer Beth Darragh, handpicked everything carefully, from the new front porch to the lawns. &#34;When I bought this house,&#34; she tells us, &#34;I wanted to fill it with art and color and details from my travels, and from other artist friends. The main living area features the classic beam and stone structural characteristics with graceful arches and a lighter and more expansive layout and large glass doors that open out to the gardens. The fully equipped kitchen has been completely modernized but with a rustic country feel and can serve up to ten in the dining area. With four bedrooms and three baths, the house is spacious and can sleep up to eight.The restoration of the gardens will continue for years to come with traditional Mediterranean orchards, olive groves and a vegetable garden. Designated Grade 1 historic status, the home occupies the site of an ancient stone quarry and was built within its walls. Situated on over two and a half acres of rural terraced landscape (all of which will be opened in subsequent years when restoration progresses), the owners embarked on a painstaking three-year restoration of both the structure and gardens and the house made its official debut in 2015.The home's historic status means that all original exterior and interior details needed to be protected and preserved and the redesign has successfully integrated the ancient details and materials and reinterpreted it as a sophisticated and contemporary residence.

<h2 id="anunparalleledriadrenovationingranadabyarchitectyannlecoadic">An Unparalleled Riad Renovation in Granada by Architect Yann Le Coadic</h2>
The second Spanish renovation project for Yann Le Coadic of French firm Lecoadic Scotto, this stunning property dates from the 16th century and faces the Alhambra. The designer’s personal home, it propels guests back to the Renaissance, revealing a dazzling variety of influences from the region’s Moorish, Roman, Renaissance Catholic and even Franco Modernist past.
Built riad-style across two stories, all rooms open to a central courtyard, and there’s a roof-level terrace. Three bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath, make the home ideal for six guests, though a convertible sofa bed in the moody smoking room allows for a seventh. Le Coadic has added his own respectful creations of course, though his approach was one of restoration and minimal fixes for modern life versus a deep renovation. He created a generous dining table inspired by monasteries that is the home’s heart space, a low-slung sofa based on Middle Eastern built-in couches, and an innovative aluminum headboard in the primary bedroom that draw in natural light. Furnishings are a relatively spare curation of antique finds.

Butler service, in-home chef and meal preparation and/or daily breakfasts can be made available upon request. All toiletries are locally sourced at the perfumer Patio de Los Perfumes.

Granada is synonymous with its UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Alhambra, a vast palace, fortress, grounds and gardens that was once the largest political and aristocratic center of Muslim culture in the West. The stunning hilltop site rises above the Darro River and was first designed as a fortress before becoming the royal residence and court of Granada in the mid-13th century with the establishment of the Nasrid Kingdom. Throughout the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries, the fortress was transformed into a citadel defined by its soaring walls and defensive towers that housed the military, the royal guard and the medina. Seized in 1492 by the Catholic Monarchs, the Alhambra later became a Christian court, military zone, church and Franciscan monastery.
A mountain town in the Sierra Nevadas of Spain’s Andalusia region, Granada features a wealth of Moorish architecture in its steeply sloped, winding streets. Gardens are abundant (Granada means pomegranate), and no visit is complete without a tour of the city’s Miradors or viewpoints, ideal at sunset hour. The town’s Jewish quarter is called the Albacín, and it's lined with whitewashed buildings dripping with flowers. The quarter of Sacramonte, up high in the hills, is home to the region’s famed Gypsies who traditionally lived in cave homes, many still inhabited today. This is the traditional land of flamenco music and dancing, and there are numerous locations within Sacramonte and elsewhere in the city for catching a passionate show. Tradition has it that tapas come free in Grenada with the purchase of a drink, and Anthony Bourdain famously dubbed the Spanish city among his favorites for a bar and café crawl. Day trips into the Sierra Nevada mountains promise hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and even skiing and snowboarding in season.

<h2 id="thatchedanddomedcruciform">Thatched and Domed Cruciform</h2>
A generous, cross-shaped tropical outpost, this oversized palapa features, at its heart, a kitchen opening onto to a long swimming pool. Tropical vegetation insulates the open, thatched property that’s looked over by cooking and cleaning staff who also deliver upon-arrival groceries selected according to guests’ preferences.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a farm table, prep island and stools, opening onto a generous circular common area for living, dining, lounging and swimming, making this property is a great place for gathering and sharing meals with family and friends.
Two bedrooms are king rooms, and the third has three singles, each opened to the common area if desired, via classic shuttered doors and windows. There’s an outdoor shower by the lushly landscaped pool terrace and an artesian well on property, too. 
<h3 id="around">Around</h3>
Trancoso is a small beach town that’s lack of resort development has made it a darling of the jet-set crowd seeking simplicity and seclusion. A former fishing village, Trancoso is located in the Bahia region of Brazil, a slightly off-the-beaten-path destination bathed by dense rainforest and surrounded by miles of beaches. The town is famed for its charming quadrado, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage site, with its whitewashed wedding chapel and colorful houses surrounding the square. The town became a favored hippie destination in the late 1960s, yet today the town is more hipster than hippie, its stylish cobbled streets and candy-colored houses increasingly popular with international trendsetters. Set on a bluff overlooking the ocean, Trancoso was originally settled by Jesuit priests in the late 1500s, and it is still pristine and relatively undeveloped today. The nearby villages of Arraial d’Ajuda and Caralva are worth a day trip, and one of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches, Espelho, featuring remarkably warm swimming lagoons formed at low tide by the coral reefs, is easily accessible nearby.

Inspired by Saint Benedict’s cross design, this property is a cross-shaped, giant domed palapa with a kitchen at its center and bedrooms filling its transept. A swimming pool pours from its intersection, lined with loungers and a rich wood staircase leading into the tropical landscape, and its impressive central palapa is held up by sturdy timbers and topped by solar panels. A cook and two housekeepers are on site daily.

The restoration project of a native son who returned home in search of a place to unplug and unwind, Amazigh is so named for the Berber symbol that means “free man” and also symbolizes the olive tree. The name perfectly encapsulates the property’s high-spirited remodel and its place amid a stand of glinting olive trees. And the house also reveals Ninì Bonavoglia’s passions for travel and design and his eye for subtle sophistication.Large scale artworks fill vivid white walls and sculpted ceramics on display are well lit by the natural light pouring through new, loft-like banks of windows. Ninì Bonavoglia, the free-spirited sculptor, ceramicist, and art consultant behind the refurbishing of this design-forward home, named his property Amazigh after a Berber symbol meaning “free man”. The updated traditional space is filled freely with his own creations, including the eye-catching ceramic fireplace surround, wall art and sculptures, in complement to a selection of Italian designer furnishings by Gio Ponti, Mario Bellini, and Gino Sarfatti.
"I wanted to make it as a very personal project," he tells us, "mixing things I’ve collected during the years and my ceramic works, which are reflected in the fireplace, door handles, lighting, and sculptures scattered around the house."
