This charming home rental in Italy is located under the mountains in rolling countryside, where Alpine spirit meets Mediterranean flair. It's just old-fashioned enough to feel cosy, with modern design elements that lend it a sense of colorful fun. The lovely, slightly untamed garden that surrounds it only adds to its charm.
The South Tyrol tourism department gave this property five suns, its highest honor for a rental property. And it's easy to see why. The exterior of this charming home rental in Italy is draped in ivy, and the interior drenched in sunlight, bringing it a magical quality.
The house sleeps six guests in three bedrooms on two floors, with kitchens and living rooms on each floor. Each room has vintage beds with modern, super-comfortable mattresses, and this blend of old and new sets the theme for the entire property. Antique rustic furnishings are matched with modern art and cool knick-knacks. Like a well lived-in home, it is full of books and parlor games.
We love the bathrooms, decorated in bold Richard Ginori tiles. The garden is a home in itself - a lawn dotted with chairs and sunbeds, surrounded in overgrown wisteria and fruit trees. Guests are welcome to pick the kiwis, figs, quinces, peaches, plums, cherries and apricots, and help themselves to the vegetable garden. For sunny days, there is an outdoor shower, and for summer evenings, a barbecue.
The main house is available for rentals from Easter through the first week of January. The apartment is available all year.

AROUND
The house is located between Bolzano and Merano, perfect for discovering the magic of South Tyrol. There are good public transportation options (buses or trains), but the owners also provide two bicycles. There is a cycle path nearby, a natural swimming pool in Gargazzone, as well as a tennis court and golf course, just a few minutes from the house.

Gargazzone, South Tyrol, Italy. Nearest airport is the small airport of Bolzano, then Verona (102 miles). Milan, Innsbruck and Munich are also close.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Spring, summer and autumn for hiking and outdoors. Winter for skiing.
