The stark geometry of the tiled interiors and original wooden beams is accentuated by the falling fabrics on beds and sofas to create a visually dynamic space.
A journalist by profession, Eva uses this home with her family as a space to unwind. This villa for rent in Sicily is served by the nearby town of Lipari, which gives its name to the island and offers an abundance of local bars, restaurants and shops. Take some time to visit the municipal museum, which displays archeological finds unearthed across the Aeolian islands, or take a tour of the town’s focal point, its historic citadel. Fortified during the Sicilian Arab period, a charming cathedral is to be found in the complex which is dedicated to the island’s patron, Saint Bartholemew, and whose relics are interred within. While meandering through the small streets and alleyways of the old town, sample some of the local Malvasia, a sweet dessert wine, which is a source of pride among Sicilians.
Lipari is the most populous of the Aeolian islands and the eponymous town functions as the archipelago's principal transport hub. For avid island-hoppers, a ferry service runs from Lipari to the islands of Vulcano, Stromboli, Salina, Alicudi and Filicudi. We strongly recommend hiking the volcanic uplands of Stromboli from a safe distance or taking an evening boat trip to experience its specular lava flows and gas-emiting fumaroles.
Aside from the private beach for exclusive use of guests renting the villa, numerous fine beaches dot the coastline. In particular, the pebbled shore of Spiaggia Valle Muria offers glistening turquoise waters, just a short 3km west of Lipari town.
