There's something about the shape of the trullo that lends itself to highly appealing interior design, and this converted cluster of 17th-century coned farm dwellings, just outside of Cisternino in Puglia, is a great example. Curved walls and domed ceilings allow for soft lines, dramatic arches and delightful nooks.
This villa for rent in Italy takes these ancient structures and turns them into contemporary spaces, with arched windows that complement the delicate brickwork of the domes above them, and nooks that hold shelves and trinkets, lighting and fireplaces, stairways and showers. It has four suites, ample dining space, a sauna, a large infinity pool and sweeping gardens, making it ideally suited for up to 11 guests.
This complex of trulli and lamia dates back to the 17th century, giving an immersive taste of life in Puglia. However, it has been updated to create a modern dwelling full of creature comforts, including a large pool, a wellness center with a sauna, and plenty of space for alfresco dining.
The main living and dining room has large windows that overlook the garden and the Valle d'Itria beyond it. It has a well-equipped kitchen and a dining table with enough room to seat 8 guests, as well as access to the stone patio with an additional table.
This villa for rent in Italy has four suites spread between the trulli and lamia. Three have double beds and shower rooms, and two of those have private courtyards. The fourth is a five-cone suite, with a double bedroom, two single bunks, kitchenette, living area, fireplace, and en-suite shower room. There are two additional bathrooms in the living area and the spa.

Famed for its villages such as Cisternino, Ostuni, Locorotundo and Alberobello, Puglia’s Valle d'Itria occupies southern Italy’s Apulia region at the top of the country’s boot heel, close to both the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas.
The region’s sought-after, whitewashed trulli, once agricultural storerooms, pop out of the landscape in every direction, and stone villages rise from the rugged, tree dotted hills. Trulli homes date from prehistoric times and besides their beauty, they stand as remarkable examples of dry stone, or mortarless, construction. The nearby town of Alberobello claims some 1,500 trulli grouped together as a unique UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Beyond the iconic structures, Puglia features olive grove-covered hills and valleys, vineyards scattered across the rolling landscape, and even fertile plains where the ancient Greeks once farmed. Markets, vineyards, oil tastings and rural trattoria are abundant, and the Adriatic beaches, with their lively seaside cafes and colorful ports are a quick drive away.
