Along the Lisbon Wine Route
Located along the Lisbon wine route, this lovely vacation home rental in Portugal is a cherished heritage property in the grand manner of country houses of yesteryear. Just 30 minutes from the Atlantic coast, it sits in splendid privacy in a valley covered in vineyards with magnificent views of the countryside.
Built in the early 19th century, the rustic atmosphere and elegant details of the house have been kept intact where the memories of another time still remain. Restored with respect for the original design, the decorative features have been well preserved including the timber and coffered ceilings, ornate fireplaces, and colorful tile, with newly added contemporary style that blends beautifully.
The property consists of the main house with a large living room, a fully equipped eat-in kitchen and a separate formal dining room that seats eight, along with two double en suite bedrooms. There are two separate cottages, each with a small kitchenette and one en suite double bedroom each, with room for up to eight guests total.
The grounds are immersed within lovely gardens with green lawns surrounding the pool and outdoor dining areas with a barbecue and a firepit. There's even a charming pond and fountains. This is life as characterized by the essence of the customs and traditions that surround it, in a beautiful landscape where time stands still, and you can enjoy the simple pleasures and languid pace of rural life.
PORTUGAL'S WINE ROUTE
Thirty minutes inland from the coast, Carmões is a rural and agricultural village known for its lovely Quintas and Casais. A vacation destination for royalty in the past, the town is rich in traditions that have been preserved by its inhabitants and the grandeur of some buildings are a big part of Portuguese architectural heritage.
Part of the Route of the Quintas and the Wine and Vineyard Route, there are numerous wineries and wine-producing estates for tastings and excellent local markets and food festivals during the spring and summer. The small town of Torres Vedras lies 20 minutes west and is worth a stop if you're heading to the coast. With its jumble of cobbled stone streets and imposing 13th-century castle, it's an atmospheric and historic spot worth exploring.
Some of the best western beaches are a 30-minute drive including Praia das Amoeiras, Praia Azul and Praia Santa Cruz. Lisbon is a 40-minute drive.
