The garden sanctuary features matte plaster surfaces, Mediterranean-inspired terracotta tiling, and hideaway-in-the-tropics views out every window. Those views take in a vast, tree- and flower-packed garden that's lush with bamboo, palms, and a majestic blooming cactus that sprouts hundreds of flowers annually. After realizing the impossibility, he kept the land but set about creating the villa of his dreams instead.<br/><br/>Set inside lush, tropical gardens filled with banana, coconut and papaya trees frequented by exotic butterflies and birds, Lua Cheia (which means full moon in Portuguese) cuts an impressive figure with its sprawling colonial-inspired facade and romantic wraparound verandah. </p>

    <p>Upon entrance, you might notice the soaring angles of the ceilings or light bouncing off the marble floors. Perhaps you'll take note of the unique pieces of antique furniture (from India Jane, Karan's family business) in natural textures and colors, brightened with pops of creamy chartreuse and melon, or the pattern of a banana leaf pillow. The whole home is full of windows and well-preserved original touches like vintage cement tiles and tall, antique wooden doors.<br/><br/>Lua Cheia accommodates up to 13 guests, with six bedrooms and five bathrooms. All have ensuite bathrooms, and three have their own outdoor areas, while one leads out to a charming rooftop watchtower (climb up for spectacular views).<br/><br/>On the grounds, monkeys chase low-hanging fruit from the trees while a private riverside shala provides a peaceful setting with birds and breeze, perfect for a group yoga class of up to 20 people. Other relaxation diversions could include a sway or nap in the hammock or a peaceful afternoon by the pool.<br/><br/>The grounds also feature a separate bungalow called Luazinha, which has two simple bedrooms, a charming open-plan living space and bathroom. The bungalow is nestled in a private garden, and can provide extra capacity for larger groups. <br/><br/>A stay in this villa is a truly extraordinary experience (especially if you happen to catch a full moon during your stay!)<br/><br/><b>ADDITIONAL FEATURES</b></p><p>Breakfast is included, airport transfers, cleaning and cooking staff. <p>This two-bedroom, two bath house spreads cheerily across a single story, and presents a cool reinterpretation of the past, with its original brick fireplace in a double height living room, open-plan living spaces connected through classic arching doorways, warm-hued hardwoods, and plenty of mid-century style built-ins (dining banco, modular work nook, lean sideboard).</p>
<p>A sweep through the bright home reveals a marble clad, patio accessible kitchen and an affinity for contemporary, brand name furnishings. Think: Eames, Sarah Ellison and Hay along with vintage finds from LA and London. Eclectic art, modern photography and splashes of primary color add to the home’s mid-century flavor, while outdoor spaces are decidedly 21st century LA. A tropical-infused garden features both a lawn and a hardscaped entertainment zone equipped with a BBQ, firepit, dining table for six, and cushy outdoor sofas and patio seating.</p>
<p>The primary bedroom is king-sized with an ensuite bath with a tub. The second bedroom offers garden views and is designed for kids with a single bed and convertible futon. The bath is next door to the kids' room and has a shower. The home’s has parking for two vehicles and a level 2 EV charger.</p>
<p>Additional Features Note: The family’s beloved babysitter, a musician, lives on property in a privately accessed guest suite. Babysitting services can be prearranged if available.</p>
<h3 id="around">Around</h3>
<p>LA’s Mar Vista neighborhood is a leafy, mostly mid-century modern residential enclave lined with trees and sidewalks. The area is home to a handful of cafes, restaurants and shops within walking distance, and the neighborhood hosts a weekly farmers’ market every Sunday. The local sports fields/recreation center is a 5-minute drive from the home, offering soccer, basketball and a playground. And buzzing Venice Beach is a 15-20 minute bike ride or five-minute drive from the house, offering its vibrant coastal scene and pretty, walkable, canal-lined streets. Santa Monica’s ocean park and its wealth of shops/restaurants and cafes is just a bit further, and the trendy areas of Abbott Kinney and Rose Avenue are a six-minute drive from the house, or they make for a great extended stroll of about 40 minutes through some of LA’s finest residential neighborhoods. Abbott Kinney is one of the city’s coolest pedestrian strips of galleries, shops and eclectic cafes, offering easy access to the coastline and all of its recreational opportunities.</p>

Plage du Lido, Cupabia and Plage du Corsaire are two of the best and further south is one of the wildest coastlines on the island. Sartène also lies to the south and is said to be the most Corsican of Corsican towns with cobbled stone streets and historic atmosphere. Just a short drive north is the magnificent archaeological site of Filitosa with the stunning Neolithic megaliths. <p>The bright bungalow is built into the steeps of Silver Lake, and the elevated home benefits from a shaded front deck that runs the length of its façade, looking out across the woodsy, waterfront neighborhood. Behind its candy-apple red door, a whitewashed interior lets the home’s clean-lined original features stand out, accented by the creative flourishes brought to the classic blank canvas by designer Gabriel Yuri Bollag. Original details like casement and wide picture windows and bathroom glass brick and tiling are modernized by period-styled interior designs that echo the era’s penchant for the low slung, glamorous, and geometric.</p>
