Discovered by chance on a return trip in 2011, this residence in Corsica inspired its new owner to switch gears into island life after over a decade in Paris. The site of a hotel built in 1960, the property was in need of a bit of a lift. Seeing the potential in an unpolished gem, the owner, who is Corsican, enlisted friends and family whose expertise in hospitality, design and architecture brought the property back to life with a renewed sense of purpose. Today, there are six apartments available for rent, and you can choose between garden and valley views.
Set among the lush greenery and ancient oaks of the western coast of the island, L'Aiglon is a few minutes' walk from the Gulf of Porto and Bussaglia beach, but surrounded by wilderness. Straightforward and uncomplicated, the property was restored and designed to highlight the interplay of the old and new, with subtle modern comforts embedded within the bones of the vintage structures, and raw natural accents that keep it simple.
The property is comprised of two separate buildings, one housing a reception hall and lounge for gathering and socializing. There are two types of apartment to choose from, each with a fully-equipped kitchen and sitting room, one type overlooking the valley with a bit of a sea view, the other type overlooking the gardens. The terrace and gardens are accessible for all guests as is the swimming pool that stretches out to the views.
Situated between the mountains and the sea, surrounded by history and nature, this is a peaceful and secluded getaway.
