Set on a stunning 70-acre nature preserve in the heart of Umbria, this historic vacation home rental in Italy boasts a remarkable view of the medieval town of Piedicolle surrounded by olive and cherry groves, barley fields and vineyards. 

Formerly home to local farmers who worked the surrounding land, the estate was often the meeting place for the annual battuto (beating of the grain) and where today the family still produces a line of extra virgin olive oil and hand-blended red wine from the land. Meticulously renovated from top to bottom, the original rustic characteristics remain with a newly sophisticated mix of traditional and modern comforts.  

Arranged on one floor, the main living area is the heart of the house with a spacious flow that includes a fireside lounge adjacent to the eat in state of the art kitchen and separate dining area. The timbered ceilings, polished concrete floors and handcrafted tile and stone are contrasted by chic contemporary and rustic furnishings and decor, all designed with a cool neutral palette that's serene and refined.

Each of the four en-suite bedrooms feature spacious baths and private terraces leading out to the grounds and can sleep eight guests with optional additional accommodations for up to two kids. The property is lush and peaceful with a large al fresco dining area with an outdoor fireplace and a fabulous pool nestled into the groves below.  Carefully designed with an inviting country appeal and modern sophistication, this is a beautifully crafted retreat.

During shoulder seasons the house can be configured for up to four guests.

A welcome basket of local fruit, breads, juices and more are offered upon arrival. Optional welcome dinner, concierge and touring services for guided day trips, private chef with cooking classes and private driver available. Housekeeping provided three days per week (additional housekeeping service upon request with fee), laundry facilities. 

Wifi throughout, TV, Bose audio docking station, air conditioning. On site caretaker and vineyard manager are present working in the vineyard, gardens and olive grove and are happy to help with questions, recommendations or a visit to the cantina.  

AROUND

Located in the Perugia region in Umbria just 20 minutes from central Todi, the property overlooks the Tiber River valley bordering Tuscany, Le Marche and Lazio. A beautifully historic medieval town, Todi is surrounded by a succession of ancient concentric walls representing medieval, Roman and Estruscan influences. The stunning hilltop capital city of Perugia with it’s beautiful historic center is a 30-minute drive and is also a contemporary university town with great nightlife and youthful energy.

The property is ideally situated within an hour to some of the most beautiful and important towns of Umbria including the medieval fortress town of Spoleto backed by the Apennine mountains. If you're there in summer don't miss the massive Festival dei Due Mondi, an annual celebration of opera, dance, music and art. You can reach Orvieto and Assisi within an hour with Rome two hours south and Florence two hours west.
