We love the charmingly mismatched collection of salvaged and vintage style that gives this beautifully restored country house a rustic modern sophistication. It perfectly combines the country charm of the Alentejo, with eco-consciousness and chic one-of-a-kind design.
Tucked away down a dirt road on over 32 acres of centenarian gardens, this award-winning boutique hotel is located in the quiet beauty of the Alentejo countryside. Resurrected from the ruins of an abandoned farm, the style and eco-concept are the creation of Portuguese husband and wife team and media personalities who have developed and created a stylish and intimate retreat that speaks to their passion for the region and culture.
The traditional farmhouse silhouette gives way to completely restored interiors with warm earthy materials, modern polished concrete, lofty and spacious beamed rooms and contemporary style. The seven en-suite bedrooms range in size from doubles to suites and were converted from the former stables. Some feature wood burning fireplaces and most include private terraces overlooking the gardens and Evora in the distance.
With a chic and sophisticated pairing of designer furnishings and decor alongside fabulous vintage finds, the entire hotel is beautifully curated with eye-catching detail and has been retrofitted with best-in-class environmental design that conserves precious resources and keeps it "green."
The restaurant serves breakfast daily and light meals throughout the day with Friday and Saturday dinners prepared by your hosts. Not only the house but the land has been restored and carefully preserved with mature gardens and lawns, Roman era tunnels and stone water tanks surrounded by a rare grove of ancient cedars. You can stroll the grounds and enjoy shady areas with hammocks and the two pools for refreshing summer fun. Stylish, eco-friendly and serene, this is a great country escape.
