A Simple Dwelling Along the Bay Of Biscay
This bright and airy architect-designed cabin is located on Île d'Oléron, off the west coast of France. Set on a quiet, sandy lot under a large oak tree, it is within easy reach of the beach and offers beautiful sunset vistas.
The house has a very industrial feel, with its high windows, rubber floors, and corrugated metal ceiling. We love the living roof and the use of vertical wooden strips to create floor-to-ceiling lines. Cleverly concealed doors swing open to expand the house outward into the sandy yard, bringing the interior and exterior together.The house has one master bedroom, a smaller bedroom with bunk beds, and one convertible room.
Île d'Oléron is France's second-largest island after Corsica. Oléron is a popular tourist destination for the French and attracts relatively few foreign tourists. The island has long beaches, where surfing is popular. Boat trips are available from the town of Boyardville to the nearby Ile d'Aix and past the famous Fort Boyard. Local restaurants specialize in seafood, especially oysters.
This property is 200m from the local beach, and there is a natural swimming pool, ideal for young children. only 10 minutes away by bike. There are facilities for diving and fishing nearby, as well as beach huts. This ia also a great community for biking, with many trails.
