Sensitively and elegantly restored to bring out this historic building’s natural character, this vacation home rental in Belgium’s city of Ghent is a well preserved example of the historic townhouses that line the cobblestone streets in the town center. Owned by a native of the city and restored by Rearch Architects, the three story home is famous for its bronze statue on the corner called ‘Het Breistertje’, which means ‘The Knitster.’
Originally made by French sculptor Jean-Pierre Clemençon for the 1976 exposition “Formes Humaines” at the Rodin Museum in Paris, the artist subsequently decided to build the sculpture into the facade of the house and it remains a unique part of its identity today.
