It’s always gratifying to find fellow Chic Nomads whose wanderlust and appreciation for design, adventure, and style is reflected in their work and their homes. The residence of photographers and BoutiqueHomes community members Gemma and Andrew, this vacation home rental in Silverlake is an inspiring glimpse into their artistic drive and what life on the move looks like once you get home. Polished but loosely composed, stylish but very welcoming, we love the creative details, original artwork and the vintage-inspired aesthetic.
Starting with a classic 1930s bungalow, the home is an inspired update that retains the charm of the simple Craftsman structure while modernizing it with a fresh Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic and luxurious natural materials and finishes and consists of the main house and smaller guest house.

Tucked into a leafy garden surrounded by trees, the two-story home has a private secluded feel but is within a short walk to the best of this chic LA enclave.
The main floor is a bright and airy open-plan space that combines the living room, dining room and kitchen with French doors that open out to the 450 square foot dining terrace. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, one with bunkbeds specifically designed for kids. There’s an additional office/study and a gorgeous full bath with a luxurious freestanding bathtub. Employing oak, dark slate, Vermont marble, and hand-made ceramic tile, the spaces are elegant and refined but understated and family-friendly. The couple’s travels are evident throughout with lovely textiles, unique furnishings, and art and are an intimate portrait of how the family lives when they are home.
Located on the lower level, the guest studio is a bright and newly renovated space with a small kitchenette, dining and office area, and a private entrance that opens out onto a patio. Shaded by a beautiful Chinese elm and oaks, the grounds include a fire pit, an in-ground spa, and outdoor seating areas for enjoying this unique urban hideaway.
