Both modern architecture and vintage charm are found within this Catskills manor home. Set within a beautiful landscape with a historic barn and an immaculate swimming creek, your small event or retreat will already have the perfect built-in atmosphere.
It took an extraordinary amount of imagination, inspiration and artistry to transform this old farmhouse into the polished and modern homestead it is today. We love the contrasts of salvaged and vintage elements paired with modern aesthetics and handcrafted details. It's the perfect synthesis of historic and contemporary design in an idyllic creekside setting. To read an interview with the owner, Tom Givone, visit our Journal section here.
Rescued from almost complete ruin, this early 19th-century manor home has undergone a remarkable restoration. Taking more than four years of careful work and a complete interior demolition, the period character and bones of the original structure remain intact but with a renewed modern spirit. Set at the edge of a stream with a cascading waterfall, the house is located in one of the loveliest areas of the Catskills surrounded by woods.
A study in contrasts, the structure's provincial roots and old-world charm are now paired with modern industrial materials and finishes such as steel, glass and concrete. The clapboard exteriors and massive crossbeams were preserved while most of the custom woodwork and stone were locally sourced. The large kitchen and dining addition mimics the home's original design, with a wall of skyscraper glass and soaring ceilings. The interiors are minimalist but dramatic in detail with a handpicked collection of vintage and modern industrial furnishings and decor and unique reclaimed items (the 19th-century wood and steel bathtub is a real find!).
With five bedrooms and two and a half baths, the house is spacious and can accommodate up to 10 guests with plenty of interior and exterior space for family and friends. Taking full advantage of the beautiful location, the cantilevered porch appears to float on the surface of the water and overlooks all of the high points of the charming country landscape.
The original barn has also been renovated in the same modern/historic architectural style as the farmhouse and the small private river has been enhanced to accommodate summertime swimming and row boating.
This property's serene spaces can make for the perfect retreat for small celebrations, health & wellness, or even corporate retreats. Find space to bond with outdoor yoga- or even in the barn, create and enjoy homemade pizzas using the wood-fire pizza oven or simply enjoy a starry night either by sitting outside or viewed inside through the large floor to ceiling window. There is no shortage of ways to celebrate or bond with your small group. Dinner created by a farm to table private chef, hiking, horseback riding, massage therapy and more can be arranged. Activities to interest anyone can certainly be found and enjoyed here.
This is a home where opposites attract and coexist beautifully.
