In a town that recently sprang to life in a remote section along the Pacific coast, this villa for rent in Costa Rica is part of its very fabric.
Getting there is half the fun, with a trek that takes you through the mountains and coastal regions of Guanacaste to a secluded community that is part of a sustainable vision of development in a country famous for its ecological heart.
Discovered by a couple on the search for a spot to settle and connect with the culture, they were stopped in their tracks by the beauty of the coast and the ethos of the town of Las Catalinas.
Just steps from the shoreline, the villa is a modern, new build but with the bespoke flourishes and sensibilities of traditional Costa Rican style. Rising just above the neighboring beach club, the view looks back over the town from both the indoor and outdoor living spaces.
The bi-level home consists of a living room and dining area adjacent to a chef's kitchen. Light pours in from the pool courtyard connecting the spaces to the outdoors and the horizon. There are four en suite bedrooms and a bunk room, with space for up to ten guests.
Whether joining a sunset yoga class, heading out on the trails, or relaxing on the deck at the pool, this spot is a reset for your whole being where you'll experience the magic of a community and the beauty of Costa Rica.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Concierge services are available from 5 am to 11 pm that includes transportation, grocery stocking, and touring, with the daily "house mom", Juliana, making your stay even more memorable. She'll be with you from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm to offer up an irresistible breakfast of fresh breads, homemade juices, fresh fruit, and Costa Rican specialties, and be sure not to miss her Gallos Pinto breakfast, fresh salsas, and local delicacies. The rate also includes laundry, ironing, and housekeeping. In-house massage and spa services are available upon request.
A local favorite, Limonada Cafe, can help cater meals upon request or select the exceptionally talented five-star chef available on request to add to Juliana's offerings.
Kayaks, paddleboards, and beach toys are available to rent through the local store, Pura Vida Ride Surf and Bike Shop (don't miss their coffee and empanadas, they are dream worthy). Private helicopter transfers can also be arranged.
A NEW SUSTAINABLE TOWN EMERGES IN GUANACASTE
Designed as an ecologically and sustainably responsible town, Las Catalinas, was recently developed as an independent community composed of shops, restaurants, small hotels, and homes among walkable public spaces and plazas free of cars that are woven into the stunning coastal environment in Guanacaste.
It's a 45-minute trek through Sardinal, Artola, and Nuevo Colon over the Monkey Trail (warning the route is not paved) into Potrero and finally to the breathtaking coast.
The Plaza Central hosts the best cafes, restaurants, and gourmet markets, where, from the dreamy setting you can start your day with the best Costa Rican coffee to the sounds of the birds and waves below as the town wakes up.
On one side is over one thousand acres of tropical dry forest, with over 22 kilometers of trails for hiking and mountain biking, while on the other, some of the Pacific's best beaches including Playa Danta and its neighbor Playa Dantita (great for the little ones to explore the tide pools).
Some of the best surf breaks that Costa Rica is known for are at the unspoiled and beautiful Playa Grande 30 minutes south. For anglers, there are two sailings on the local catamaran service in the morning and at sunset to explore the famous fishing waters off the coast.
