Just around the corner from Lisbon’s city center, the home is near the spot where the Tejo River empties into the sea. The nearest beach is reachable in a quick two minutes on foot, and the home offers easy access to a coastal pathway for jogging, cycling and walking along a well marked coastal path to Cascais. Fish lovers should take the coastal road to the Associação Paço de Arcos for authentic waterfront restaurants and sunset taverns and cafes. Also nearby is the Jardim Real de Caxias, considered one of Portugal’s standout gardens for its architecture, water features and landscaping. Paço de Arcos is named for the 15th-century arched palace built overlooking the Tagus River that now operates as a hotel. The palace’s gardens once greeted royalty and are open to the public today—filled with footpaths, large scale sculptures and stone benches along the waterfront. Beaches connect along the coastline in both directions, some with small harbors bobbing with colorful fishing boats. The Lisbon skyline is visible in the distance, with its bridges, terracotta tiled rooftops and seven silhouetted hills.
