Located on Sri Lanka’s south coast, a five-minute walk from Galle, the provincial capital, and close to desirable Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna, the villa is steps from the ocean, a palm-backed white crescent of beach that extends for miles. The adjacent beach offers a handful of small cafes and tropical food outposts plus a fleet of local fishermen who bring in a daily catch. The UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, remnants of a fortified city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century, is the town's main attraction. The stone walls enclose Galle’s buzzing pedestrian area where buildings display the city’s colonial past in Dutch-, Portuguese-, and British-influenced architecture.

Once a bustling trading port, the city reveals its merchant-era affluence in its many statuesque mansions, manicured villas and museums, and overflowing gardens. The Marine Archeological Museum retells the area’s rich history, while loads of boutiques, cafes, and stylish design outposts and art galleries showcase modern Galle’s cosmopolitan appeal. Dewata Beach is the place to go for surfing instruction, and seasoned wave runners will love Hikkaduwa, Rajgama, Talpe, Midegama and Weligama. The local markets present a dizzying supply of fruits, vegetables, jewel-toned saris and home accessories for sale. Elephant and leopard sightings take people to Udawalawe and Yala, and a local train ride will find you exploring Matara or Weligama/Mirissa as an easy day trip inland.
