Architectural Redesign in a Gated Notting Hill Mews
This central London property is located in a pretty cobbled courtyard in Notting Hill, walkable to the shops, bars and restaurants of Portobello Road. The contemporary home sits within a gated mews, with leafy box gardens and sparkling fairy lights.
Redesigned by architect Ben Cullen Williams with vivid, white-on-wood interiors by Tom Horne, co-founder of LESTRANGE, the house features original Danish modern furnishings throughout. It has ample ceiling height in the open-concept living-dining area and is embellished by a striking suspended stairway and a galley-style modern kitchen. The two bedrooms share a standalone bathroom with a large shower.
Additional features
Superfast WiFi throughout, TV with Netflix and Prime, Sonos in the living areas. Gated for security.
Around
Celebrated for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, bustling market and, of course, the eponymous rom-com, Notting Hill is one of London’s most famous neighborhoods. Portobello Market opens each Saturday (with some stalls open during the week), selling antiques, vintage wares and furnishings, as well as fresh produce. The neighborhood is also home to dozens of independent art galleries and small, independent booksellers and merchants. The Gate Theater welcomes theatre buffs while the Victorian Coronet Theater offers a diverse mix of comedy, literary and musical performances. Excellent restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs come alive in the area each evening, and cafes and dining options range from the casual to white tablecloth.
The area’s Notting Hill Festival, which takes place at the end of August each year, has been billed as Europe’s biggest street festival, a huge parade of floats and performers in elaborate costumes led by steel drum bands and Calypso musicians.
