Sleek and Tropical
Etching a contemporary mark into the traditional landscape, this modern tropical villa by architectural designer Carlos Santacruz is comprised of two main houses and a separate private suite for eight. Handcrafted of locally sourced materials and brimming with tropical vegetation both indoors and out, this starkly neutral, white, bright retreat is the perfect marriage of sleek modern minimalism and lush tropical beauty.
Contemporary Villa Surrounded by the Tropical
Polished white concrete, a neutral palette, and the subdued pop of textural accents create a tranquil atmosphere behind this villa's gates. The sleek, modern home is infused with natural light and cloaked in green vegetation. Large windows open to the elegant pool, and its lush courtyard is lined with sun beds and bordered by built-in seating alcoves and overflowing beds of palms. Potted, sculptural succulents and artistic pottery pieces add to the vivid tropical scene.
There are three super-king suites, one larger than the two others, and three dressing rooms and bathrooms, in addition to a private studio with a bath that is available separately. The single-level property’s kitchen is chef’s quality and there’s a large carport for parking vehicles. The villa is gated, with a security system on site and daily housekeeping. Locally crafted beach bags and sarongs (for use during your stay) make treks to nearby sands a fashion statement.
Around
Located in the heart of Umalas, a relaxed area between Simnyak and Canggu, on Bali’s south coast, the villa’s surroundings have a resort village atmosphere known for beaches, high-end shops and restaurants. The villa’s neighborhood of Kerobokan offers dozens of cool restaurants and cafes, plus rice paddy views from luxury villas and manicured gardens. Biking from Calamús is a great way to explore the area, with bakeries, delis and coffee shops reachable in two to three minutes.
The best beaches nearby include Seminyak Beach, with its famed sunsets, gentle breezes and bright white sands, Batu Belig Beach, a bit further north, where golden sands and swaying palms offer a more secluded environment, Petitenget Beach, a quieter, family friendly location, and Echo Beach, in the lively village of Canggu, home to powerful waves and stunning black sand, much loved by surfers. Nightlife lovers will want to head to Potato Beach Club for DJs and live music events. Alternatively, opt for dinner or a cocktail in a beanbag on the beach at Ku De Ta. Stay into the later hours, when the restaurant/bar also features international DJs.
