A stark combination of 16 cubes placed side by side, this newly constructed, innovative villa takes its cues from the ancient Ibizan architecture that inspired architect Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus art movement, who both visited the dazzling Balearic island in the 1920s.

Newly conceived and built by an award-winning design professional and his artist wife, residents of Ibiza for decades, this one-of-a-kind architectural villa is characterized by geometric shapes and clear colors in its interior, typical elements of the modern Bauhaus architectural movement of the early 20th century.

Following the example set by ancient Ibizan fincas, the home has innovative eco credentials—such as water collection, sensitive siting in Mediterranean landscape, and double-walled construction with unique insulating air chambers. These state-of-the-art technologies root the property firmly in the 21st century, though the villa’s starkly luxurious ambiance feels almost futuristic. 

In this creative, new wave interpretation of Cubic Architecture, 16 two-dimensional squares come together to form a harmonious, multilevel structure. AROUND

The property is five minutes by car from San Agustin in Benimussa, an agricultural region in the southwest part of the island known for its vast fincas and estates. One of the island’s prettiest and best preserved villages, San Agustin’s buildings are blinding white, with unusual chimneys and neatly manicured hedges. The larger town of San Jose is less than 10 minutes away, set at the base of the Sa Talaia foothills. The town offers a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars, and its main street is home to an impressive church with big shade trees. The area around town is known for its vivid blue coves, fishing ports, and secluded beach clubs, such as Cala Bassa, an idyllic, white-sand-lined cove of turquoise water shaded by juniper trees that offers fine dining and chaise lounge rentals. Other coves such as snorkeling favorite Cala Gracioneta, popular Cala Comte, famed for its sunsets, and Cala Tarida, ideal for families and shallow water swimming, are reachable by car in about 15 minutes.
