Elegant, Understated Styling
The new addition to the Can Cunso family of properties, a portfolio of breezy, blonde stone villas in the center of Mallorca, this reconstructed village home was added in 2020 and updated in keeping with the portfolio’s elegant, understated styling. In a land of lush vineyards and steep, twisting road routes favored by cyclists, the separate but adjacent village homes are a great solution for groups traveling together who still seek independence and privacy.
This villa for rent in Mallorca takes country living to the next level, with a fruit-tree-filled yard space, saltwater swimming pool and spacious wooden deck adding to its cool, minimalist interior. This is a home where glass offsets stone, that offsets wood, that offsets sleek white wall space. A modern metal staircase stands sculpturally at its center. Pebbles are inlaid in its walk-in showers. A shaded portico stretches poolside. And furnishings are pretty, understated and clean-lined, inviting easy unwinding, with a touch of urban elegance.

AROUND
Peace and quiet tops the list of things that Mallorca’s rugged interior offers visitors. The home is one of four owned and operated by the same family in Consell, a 19th-century rural community they’ve called home for generations. Relax poolside after a morning exploring markets in Santa Maria del Camí or Sineu. Walk into the heart of town (five minutes) to visit shops, restaurants and small local bars, or visit the workshops of local craftsmen. Consell hosts an island-famous flea market each Sunday morning, featuring some 300 stalls overflowing with antiques, curiosities, collectibles and furniture.
Take a 10-minute drive to discover Alaró’s ancient architecture, castle, and cobbled streets, and be sure to browse the town’s shoe selection. Alaró was once home to dozens of cobblers and shoe factories, and prominent bootmaker Tony Mora still works from the village and has a warehouse there.
This is wine country, and the Mallorca Wine Tours Train passes on Consell’s outskirts, offering organized winery tours and tastings. Or visit the area’s vineyards independently. The nearby village of Binissalem produces a highly regarded red wine from the local Manto Negro grape, and is also a quarry town where stonemasons (and woodworkers) work in rugged ateliers.
Mallorca’s interior is perhaps best known for its Serra de Tramuntana, a rugged mountain range that forms the island’s backbone and is a classified UNESCO World Heritage Site. Besides being a popular base for hikers, climbers, and day trippers, the mountain range has become a destination for both amateur and professional cyclists. Featuring steep, winding routes, biking in the area is known to be challenging, even considered some of the best road cycling routes in Europe.
