An Art-Filled Oasis in the Bucolic Sonoma Valley
This casa and creekside casita come from a San Franciscan couple – she is a fashion industry alumnus and he is a librarian/mixologist – who both love travel, art and design. In particular, they love lazy Sundays and wanted each of their properties to unlock that carefree, languid feeling.
Their penchant is fully realized on this two-acre playground in the heart of Sonoma wine country, dotted with hammocks, swings and daybeds.
An Art-Filled Oasis in the Bucolic Sonoma Valley
These two homes come from a San Franciscan couple – she is a fashion industry alumnus, and he is a librarian/mixologist – who both love travel, art and design. In particular, they love lazy Sundays and wanted each property to unlock that carefree, languid feeling.
Their penchant is fully realized on this two-acre playground in the heart of Sonoma wine country, dotted with hammocks, swings and daybeds. For an interview with one of the owners, visit our Stories section here. To purchase some of her unique homeware designs, visit our Marketplace here.
Abundant windows encircle Casa Anush, a two-bedroom cottage with French doors and skylights that flood it with fresh air and light. The owners also have a home decor business and adorned the walls with original prints and weavings that all hold special meaning. Come birdwatch or stargaze on the decks and lawn area; arrive between April and October and float in the solar heated pool or read a book in the year-round jacuzzi. If extra sleeping space is needed, there's also a newly added geodome, which sleeps two additional guests on a king bed.
Just 100 steps down the road is the creekside casita, which is ideal for a couple. It has one bedroom and one bathroom, sleeping up to three guests. You'll have your own private deck with a BBQ and hot tub. The casita does not have a full kitchen, but it has a fridge and basic supplies. The casa and casita can be rented together or separately.
Sundays should be well-earned, well-spent and if we're lucky, restorative for the days ahead. Come indulge, unwind and relish in the peace and privacy afforded by this wonderful place where it always feels like the most sacred day of the week.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
It should be noted that there is spotty cell phone reception and no TV (romantic, in our humble opinion), however, the home does have WiFi, a land line, and a movie projector with a curated film library. If you've ever considered a digital detox, this is the place to be.
This property is not suited for children under eight years old. Pets are not allowed.
THE QUIET SIDE OF CALIFORNIA WINE COUNTRY
This vacation rental in Sonoma County lies within Adobe Canyon and is five minutes from Kenwood, a quiet, bucolic village. Eddie’s Organic Farm as its neighbor. Depending on availability, you may even be greeted by a welcome fresh produce offering upon arrival, or you may also purchase directly from the farm.
The property is just minutes to Kenwood, Glen Ellen, restaurants, shops, Sugarloaf Ridge and Annadel State Parks, wineries and Wine Country events. Also minutes away is the colonial era Sonoma Plaza square and downtown. With its historic 19th century buildings and picturesque promenades the famous northern California city is at the very heart of the wine region. Dotted with art galleries, cafes and shops, it’s got a down to earth charm and slower pace than the glossier Napa valley region.
The main highway 12 runs from Sonoma to the more urban Santa Rosa and is where you’ll find most of the over 500 wineries. Just a few miles up the valley is the quaint and charming town of Glen Ellen and further west is the stunning Russian River Valley and the Pacific coast’s Bodega Bay and Point Reyes National Seashore. You're approximately 55 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge.
