Located in the Pueblos Blancos town of Tolox beneath the townhall square, this vacation home rental in Andalusia was renovated by a Danish expat with a light-handed approach to design and style that incorporates the vibrant colors of southern Spain and a cool Scandinavian inspired minimalism. 

The ground floor street entrance leads up to a living room and large dine-in kitchen with two doors opening out to a sunny street side balcony. There's one double bedroom down a level, and two double bedrooms upstairs, each with sunny interiors and street views.

The rooftop terrace has an outdoor shower and lounge space, and a lovely dining space for six overlooking the scenic views of the town and the Sierra de las Nieves Nature Park.

AROUND

In the Málaga province at the center of the the Sierra de las Nieves Nature Park, the mountain town of Tolox sits at the base of the Sierra Blanca and the Sierra Parda. One of the many famous "Pueblos Blancos" settlements that stretch from the northern Malaga and Cadiz provinces of Andalucia, it's among the most picturesque combinations of culture and nature.

With its crumbling castle walls above it, and at its 16th-century heart in the Plaza Alta, most of the city is also surrounded in nature, with trails leading directly into the National park land on the outskirts of town. Tolox also has the only medicinal thermal spa in all of Spain - Fuente Amargosa - where you can take in the therapeutic waters.

The nearby mountaintop town of Ronda (with its landmark 18th-century Plaza de Toros) sits above the dramatic El Tajo gorge which separates the 15th-century parts of the town from the Moorish old town. Connected by the impressive Puente Nuevo, the town's placement, massive stone bridge spanning the gorge, and main stop on the Pueblos Blancos route makes this area a must see.

The glitzy Costa del Sol town of Marbella is under an hour south along with no shortage of many quieter stretches along the Mediterranean. Malaga is an hour east.
