A Comporta Homage by Jacques Grange
Named for the owner’s mother, Mounette, the house was designed to embody her warmth and joie de vivre. The structure is a contemporary homage to traditional Alentejo cabanas, blending whitewashed simplicity with the sophisticated vision of its celebrated designers. The interiors, curated by Jacques Grange, are defined by natural materials, handcrafted Portuguese tiles, and a palette that echoes the sandy landscape.
The private grounds include a refreshing dipping pool, flanked by an oversized daybed. Two separate terraces offer options for breakfast or dinner, surrounded by fragrant white oleander and palms. Just steps from the garden gate, a sandy path leads directly to Carvalhal Beach.
What we love
We love the interiors by legendary French designer Jacques Grange, who owns The Stork Club store in Comporta. The home is an inspiring combination of his interior design and the work of Portuguese architect Nuno Lopes. We are fans of the contemporary design with regional architectural elements like reed-covered roofs, whitewashed walls and, of course, tiles! And you can’t beat the three-minute walk to Carvalhal Beach.
