An Architect-Created Country Home for Slow-Living
Two nearly identical architectural modules merge at this vivid villa outside the town of Rupià with the Pyrenees Mountains on the horizon. It’s an oasis of contemporary design, created to be a country retreat for six with a saltwater swimming pool for dialing life down and living slowly.
One of the home’s twin annexes is reserved for the common areas—a living room with large windows offering Mediterranean garden views and a shaded terrace running along its façade. The social area annex also offers an ensuite bedroom, while the second annex features two double bedrooms with a shared bathroom.
Outside, the pool lies across the horizon, accessible via generous sliding doors and views of the verdant countryside accented by the silhouette of the Pyrenees. The landscaped Mediterranean garden space is accented by various areas for eating, dining and relaxing.
Additional features
Optional by-request services include daily cleaning, breakfast prep or basket delivery, in-home chef for lunch or dinner, in-home wellness services (yoga, masseuse), and a dedicated concierge for activity planning.
Around
Located in tranquil, green countryside on the outskirts of Rupià, the villa offers the classic possibilities of the Baix Empordà, an unspoiled area detailed in our Inside Guide here.
Rupià itself is an Iberian and Roman town with narrow streets and stone walls, and it's charmingly off the beaten track for most, who head to the larger nearby city of Girona. Other lost-in-time scenic towns of the region worth exploring include Peratallada, Pals, Monells and Ullastret, photogenic medieval communities defined by stone architecture and simple living for centuries. The region is also home to dozens of local wineries within the DO Empordà appellation, and several locations host tours and tastings at the vineyards. The coast of the Costa Brava makes for a beautiful day trip, and the villa's hosts offer a traditional wooden llaut that sails the Mediterranean coastline and anchors in enticing coves of transparent blue waters.
