A 19th-Century Townhouse with Vaulted Ceilings and Private Garden
Carovigno sits on a low hill between Ostuni and Brindisi, 15 kilometers from the Adriatic coast. The home is a restored 19th-century townhouse in the historic center, arranged on a single level with star-vaulted ceilings, an architectural feature typical of Apulian noble residences of that period and rarely preserved in full working order. Fifty meters from the front door is Piazza 'Nzegna, the town's main square, flanked by the 17th-century Carmine Church and the Dentice di Frasso Castle. The Osteria Già Sotto l'Arco, which has held a Michelin star since 1982 under chef Teresa Galeone, is on that same piazza.
The house dates from the 19th century, a period when Carovigno's merchant and landowning families built in the style of minor Apulian noble architecture: thick stone walls, ground-floor rooms with commanding ceiling height, star-shaped vaults that distribute the structural load while creating a visual effect entirely their own. The renovation kept the fabric intact and added a contemporary kitchen and bathroom.
The living room is generous and light-filled. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher and dining area, and a washing machine is included. Air conditioning and a heat pump heating system keep the home comfortable across seasons. High-speed fiber Wi-Fi runs throughout. The bathroom has a shower.
A private entrance leads directly to a walled garden with outdoor seating. The terrace and outdoor lounge area are secluded from the street. Free public parking is available directly in front of the property.
