Classic Puglia: An Updated Farmhouse and Trulli Combo
A mix of stacked sugar-cube structures and those adorably authentic conical trulli, this classic Puglian holiday villa combines stone, tuff, wood and iron under a vivid coat of whitewashing. Filled with furnishings made exclusively in Italy, the renovated Itrian Valley villa is punctuated by a lush garden and sparkling infinity pool, and offers six unique suites, some with vaulted ceilings, others stone arches, and one with its own hydromassage tub on a private terrace.
Classic Trulli and Lamia Gone Modern
A classic Puglian combination of a boxy country lamia and traditional trulli, this thoroughly remodeled designer villa covers two levels and opens onto a lushly manicured garden and poolscape. Architect Geometra Angelo Prete created each of the villa’s six bedrooms to be unique, all with pool and garden views, ensuite baths, and natural linens. All rooms are furnished in a bright organic palette, and there’s a trullo bedroom, one with a beautiful exposed stone wall and arch, and another with a private terrace equipped with a hydromassage tub for two.
Bright common areas feature large windows and an easy atmosphere ideal for unwinding and casual gathering with family and friends. The dining room overlooks the poolscape and is backed by a modern spiral staircase that leads to the private suite’s jacuzzi terrace. The pool area benefits from a shaded gazebo and barbecue area, and there’s an alfresco dining area, too.
Around
This is Puglia, land of fertile valleys, gem toned coastlines and picturesque cities and villages. The property is located in the Itria Valley’s Alto Salento region, with proximity to the picturesque villages of Cisternino and Locorotondo, and the white villages of Ostuni (15km) and Alberobello, the UNESCO World Heritage village known for its thousands of conical trulli. The larger communities of Lecce (70km) and age-old Matera are also easily accessible, both offering stunning ancient architecture and a rich dining scene. Each village offers storybook trulli and historical architecture, narrow, flower-filled streets and piazzi full of local color. Lively artisans, cafes, and boutiques are abundant in the area as are tasting rooms for the region’s wine and olive oil production. The well-heeled port villages of Polignano a Mare (60km) and Monopoli are also quick drives from the villa, and the lively beaches near the city of Bari, along the Adriatic Sea offer crystalline waters and chalky white, cliff-backed coves. The Ionian bay between Italy’s boot heel and toe are a bit further afield, but also stunningly pretty. For those choosing to stick closer to home, personal chef and cooking classes, airport transfers, yoga and massage, as well as extra cleaning services are available at the villa by reservation.
