A Collection of Rural Houses at the Gates of the Douro Valley

Nestled along the banks of the Douro River between the Marao and Montemuro mountains in the UNESCO site of the Douro Valley, this collection of four rural houses reinvents the hotel experience with great style and warmth. Houses are available on an individual basis, or the whole property can be rented exclusively.

The property is comprised of four individual houses and a separate ensuite bedroom, each restored with an energetic modern update that utilizes the existing structural features paired with contemporary elements. The interiors are awash in natural light taking full advantage of the riverfront views.

Pilot’s House is a three-bedroom duplex spanning 150 square meters with a private Douro River view terrace. All three bedrooms have views of the garden, and there's an open-plan living room/kitchen space, a double bedroom suite, and a pair of double twin bedrooms with a shared bath.

Rock’s House is a romantic one-bedroom getaway surrounded by boulders and nature, overlooking the river and pool area. It offers a secluded private terrace and a kitchenette.

Ruin’s House may not have vast river views, but it’s situated on a waterfall and spacious enough for a family, with two bedrooms (one double bed/bath suite; one suite with two single beds and a bath), a kitchenette and private terrace.

Amelie’s House is an open studio, ideal for couples. Quiet and modern, the one bedroom/bath studio is the newest addition to the property, offering Douro River views, a kitchenette and a private terrace in a cozy, 27- square meters. Please inquire for availability.

The property's expansive grounds include terraced gardens, a pool and a riverfront dock for lounging and boating.

Located just over an hour from the historic city of Porto in the northernmost region of Portugal, the UNESCO site of the Douro Valley stretches over one hundred twenty miles from Porto to the Spanish border with breathtaking mountain and river scenery. The area is home to a vast wine region which is one of the oldest in the world. Mountainous and winding, the roads north lead to the beautifully preserved medieval city of Guimarães and the lovely town of Amarante in Alto Douro passing along many historic quinta estates.

Nearby Penafiel is the second oldest city in the north of the country and is often referred to as Arrifana de Sousa. The city of Vila Real is an hour north east and is a good jumping off point to explore the nearby Parque Natural da Serra do Alvao, with its lush valleys and majestic mountains.
