Traditional Timbers; Plush Interiors: A Modern Chalet Classic
With half a dozen luxury ski stations only minutes out its doors—Megève, Chamonix, Portes du Mont Blanc among them—this gorgeous, traditional-meets-modern Alpine chalet ensures your après-ski moments (or really, après anything moments!) will be equally top notch.
Indulge in this big timber chalet’s glorious, front-and-center views of Mont Blanc from the cozy embrace of its honey-toned, exposed wood interior. Uniquely situated for high mountain majesty, with half a dozen or more ski resorts only minutes away, the traditionally styled chalet is punctuated by sleek contemporary architectural features such as glass enclosed stairs, a sculptural metal fireplace, and artful lighting. The lodge features deeply cushioned furnishings, furry throws and plush skins that soften its bold, modern styling. Offset by oversized artworks and ample concrete, the space has a gallery-like quality, too, with rooms across its eight split levels brightened by huge panes of glass hung with soft draperies.
Newly built to resemble the iconic local farms/chalets of the region, the residence is a monument of reclaimed spruce and fir soaring from a stony base. Massive doors open as welcome, and traditional mountain architecture is on full display, including crossbowmen, exposed timbers, dry stone walls, and classic trusses. Cocooning comes easily in the in-house spa, swimming pool and massage room, game room, home cinema and gym. Work if you must in the mezzanine office, and consider concierge add-ons such as a private chef, ski guide, equipment rental, driver, babysitter and wellness and beauty treatments.
The house sleeps 12 adults and three children.

AROUND
For skiers, the breathtaking region surrounding Mont Blanc needs little introduction, and the picturesque small town of Megève, with its narrow medieval streets, dazzling carriage rides, and classic Alpine architecture appeals to mountain lovers of both the on and off piste variety. Some 450 kilometers of stunning slopes encircle the chalet, with six or more ski stations minutes away, including aristocratic Megève (10 minutes), the Mont Blanc mecca of Chamonix (40 minutes), the powdery verticals of La Princesse (4 minutes), the off-piste Porte du Mont Blanc (5 minutes), the steeps of Jaillet (8 minutes) and the panoramic pasture and forested cruisers of Mont d’Arbois (11 minutes).
The mountain village of Combloux has plenty to offer non-skiers, too. The town is often referred to as the “pearl of the Alps” for its family-friendly, all-season activities, from year-round sledding and carriage rides to cultural and theatrical events, hiking, nature walking, forest bathing and even a biotope lake for swimming. There’s a reindeer farm, the Domaine Le Coulairon, nearby and dozens of restaurants to choose from, ranging from the rarefied to casual lodges. The highest railway in France offers sightseeing all around Mont Blanc, past the Aiguilles de Chamonix, the Dômes de Miage and the panoramas of the Haute-Savoie. In addition to hiking and forest exploring, warm weather activities include white-water rafting and kayaking, mountain biking, and canyoneering, with tamer pursuits such as golf, tennis and exploring the small agricultural communities dotted across the jagged mountains and green valleys.
