A Centuries Old Trullo's Gentle Restoration
Situated in the heart of Puglia’s Valle d’Itria, this authentic 200-year-old trullo has been lightly restored and is nestled into peaceful and unspoiled countryside. Originally constructed as temporary agricultural dwellings, trulli reside only in the specific region of the Itria Valley and the Murge area of Italy.
Using exclusively original building techniques and materials, this seamless renovation allows you to understand and enjoy how the first inhabitants lived, combining original charm with whitewashed interiors and contemporary touches.
Updated with a modern country kitchen and baths, along with three bedrooms, the house sleeps up to five guests. Since the owners are in creative industries and experienced travelers, they gathered furniture, art, and other selected pieces from around the world in order to recreate in the trullo the same ease and comfort that they encountered in places visited.
Combining rustic and simple furnishings, these homes are a comfortable and cultural experience that transports you back in time. Surrounded by inspiring native landscape and extensive gardens, they have shady al-fresco dining and lounge areas poolside, and a firepit to gather around in the evening.
After five years of summer hosting, the Charming Trullo is now being offered all year long for a unique Puglian experience. It's a great place to get away from city life and let your mind breathe. In the fall, after a nice walk along the nearby tratturi, or easy bicycle trail, come back and roast chestnuts by the fireplace, while sipping a glass of local Negramaro wine. In springtime, the search for wild asparagus can be a tasty and satisfying experience. Once home, broil your freshly picked veggies and enjoy them with a drop of olive oil.
The owners are also happy, upon request, to take guests for daily visits to some hidden gems, such as the gothic Basilica of Santa Caterina d’Alessandria in the old town of Galatina, one of the three examples of interiors entirely covered by 15th-century frescoes.
Charming and tranquil, this historic home is something trulli special! Read a short history of the trullo in our Stories section here.
