Idyllic Country Living In Bordeaux' Wine Country
Located in the Dordogne region of Bordeaux wine country, this 19th-century former post house is surrounded by vineyards and forests with gorgeous views that extend over the fields to the valley and the villages in the distance.
Situated on over five acres of private land and gardens, the house was restored by a couple who fell in love with its beauty and potential and turned it into a romantic and family-friendly guest house.
Preserving its original charm and character, the stone construction and post and beam architecture are a nod to the past and are now paired with a light update and modern amenities. The rooms are bright and open, with high ceilings and tall windows and a mix of old stones and sleek new materials.
Awash in crisp white accents and a mix of antiques and modern decor, the home has sophistication as well as welcoming comforts designed with detail and warmth to make you feel at home. There is a large lounge with a fireplace, a library and a large dining room with a fully equipped kitchen. Several fireplaces and comfy seating areas are scattered around for cozy and intimate spaces to relax together.
The bedrooms are arranged throughout the house and are ideal for families or friends to share. There is one en-suite bedroom with a fireplace to the side on the ground floor, and two large en-suite bedrooms next to the entrance hall. There is another standard bedroom upstairs and a large dormitory-style loft bedroom that sleeps up to six guests on the upper floor.
The grounds are designed for pure vacation with a pool and jacuzzi, tennis courts and a jeu de boules court as well as alfresco dining areas with a barbecue and an old bread oven where you can enjoy summers in the country.
THE CRADLE OF WINE COUNTRY
One of the highest villages in the region, Montazeau is a quaint little town offering exceptional views of the wine country and nearby villages. Within a thirty-minute drive, the small winding roads lead out to some of the most exclusive districts in the vast Bordeaux wine region including St. Emilion and Pomerol that are home to some of the finest vintages in the world (including the famed Chateau Petrus).
You can reach the cosmopolitan city of Bordeaux in under an hour with its mix of old and new, UNESCO sites, and riverfront beauty. The greater Dordogne Valley includes many charming villages from Sarlat and Bergerac, to Domme, Beynac, and Limeuil as well as amazing prehistoric caves. It's an hour and a half to the Atlantic coast beaches and dunes of Arcachon, and Dune de Pyla.
