Located in the heart of Budapest between district VI & VII, this early 19th-century monument listed Neo-Gothic building is richly detailed with classic ornate elements and an interesting history. Dubbed "The Pekary House," it was designed by architect Brein Ferenc for a prominent citizen and later served as a center in the famous Jewish quarter of the Kiraly neighborhood. 

Set within the city's Pest district just a short walk from the left bank of the Danube, it is within minutes of the Opera House at Andrassy Avenue, the Octagon, and the colorful ruin bars, shops and restaurants. Tucked away at the quiet interior courtyard, the apartment has been thoroughly transformed from its romantic neo-classical origins into a stylish loft space designed as both a holiday and creative retreat. 

Awash in white and natural light, the apartment is airy and fresh with soaring ceilings and original rustic wood and parquet floors that form the backdrop for the very modern renovation. 

The eclectic and tasteful decor and design details were fashioned by a Swedish-Singaporean stylist with vintage classics paired with modern pieces imported from Italy. The living room is warm and welcoming and shares the lower level with a custom-made open concept kitchen and bar while the double bedroom is a serene and simple space to sleep.

Up the steel spiral steps is a loft space where you'll find a specially designed hideaway with sleeping space for one additional guest and a groovy built-in hammock for chilling out by the large windows on cozy afternoons.

AROUND

A city of stunning romantic beauty, Budapest is divided into two distinct sections: the hilly Buda and Old Town district, and the flat Pest district bisected by the Danube and connected by the Chain Bridge. Further divided into 23 ever widening neighborhoods, the apartment is located in the heart of the city between district VI and VII anchored at the intersection of the famous Kiraly street and “Budapest’s Broadway” Nagymező street. 

Perpendicular to Andrássy Avenue, the street is lined with theaters, clubs, and restaurants, and frequented by a colorful crowd. The restored elegance is everywhere, with neo-classical, Barque and Art Nouveau architecture and romantic bridges across the river. You're within walking distance of all the main left bank sights, including the now famous “ruined pubs." 

Located throughout the 7th district in the old Jewish quarter, these underground bars in the ruins of abandoned buildings are part of a unique nightlife. Left in ruins after WW2, the area is now a vibrant and fascinating part of the culture as are the many thermal baths the city is famous for. Grab the funicular for a ride up Castle Hill to the Old Town with the remnants of Roman and medieval eras and sweeping views of the city.
