Urbanauts Devises An Adventure in Urban Hospitality
We love how unique this hotel is. Made up of seven separate suites in three locations, it is unlike a hotel in the usual sense of the word. Each suite is a converted commercial space that retains some of its original character but has been given a contemporary spin.
Urbanauts Devises An Adventure in Urban Hospitality
We love how unique this hotel is. Made up of seven geographically separate suites located around the Meidlinger Markt, it is unlike a hotel in the usual sense of the word. Each suite is a converted commercial space that retains some of its original character but has been given a contemporary spin. The hotel is also integrated into the community - its reception is a local cafe, and its living room the market that surrounds it. A great small hotel Vienna for adventurous design-lovers.
This small hotel in Vienna defies the expectations of traditional hospitality. Instead of being located under one roof, its individual suites are located in former business premises and storage areas at three separate locations dotted around the Meidlinger Markt. Each suite is a converted commercial space that retains some of its original character but has been given a contemporary spin.
The hotel is integrated into the community - its reception is a local cafe, and its living room the market that surrounds it. The idea was conceived by designers Urbanauts, who invite their guests to get away from the standardized and scripted, and, by doing so, get to know the neighbors and the city at the same time.
There are three branches of the hotel in different parts of the city, each of which has a number of different suites available for rent. Each cluster has a center - a neighborhood cafe, which serves as its reception and social hub. And, instead of having traditional hotel amenities, the hotel is supported by local businesses like restaurants and spas.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES
Each room has comfortable, extra-long box-spring beds with luxury mattresses, a bathroom with rain shower or tub, and kitchenette (with Nespresso machine and water boiler with tea selection, and minibar). Other amenities include wifi and flat-screen cable TV. Every suite is equipped with a safe, big enough for a 15" laptop. All of the suites are located on the ground floor and maintain a pleasant temperature during the summer.
AROUND
This branch of the hotel is located in Vienna's 12th district, Meidling, a characterful neighborhood close to the Schönbrunn palace. It's full of restaurants, hip cafés, pubs and specialty stores, and it has a farmers' market offering local beers and other international delicacies. The legendary music venue U4 is within walking distance of the hotel, as is the old Viennese Schnaps museum.
Other attractions include: Princess Sissi’s palace garden (2 stations by underground, or a 15-minute walk), St. Stephen’s church (4km), and the Theresienbad, the oldest public baths in the city with indoor/outdoor pools, saunas and steambaths (5 minutes on foot). The owners also recommend walks through the many local parks, including the garden at the vast Baroque Schönbrunn palace, and the child-friendly Christina-Busta park.
LOCATION
Vienna, Austria. Nearest airport: Vienna International (24km). The airport bus is recommended (to Meidling station). Alternatively, take the CAT (city airport train) to Wien-Mitte and then the subway U6 to Niederhofstraße. An airport transfer can also be arranged. The hotel is 14 minutes from the Wiener Hauptbahnhof, the city's main train station.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
Different times of the year offer different attractions. January and February are quiet, making it a good time to get into cultural venues. May and June are lively, locals leave the city during the summer months, and fall is great for music and festivals. From mid-November, the city is decorated festively for the Christmas season, and New Year offers plenty of parties, dancing and ice skating.
