Inspired by Sculpture
Built in contrast to its Laurentian Forest surroundings, this three-story, monochromatic cabin designed by Nicolas Chaudier was inspired by sculptures, and created to engage in a seasonal dialogue with its lushly wooded surroundings, the latest entry in hinter’s collection of designer outposts in the woods.
Inspired by Sculpture
From the mountain views visible from its third floor, belvedere-styled terrace, to its lower level, wraparound promenades, this six-person retreat is the most expansive hinter home yet, a tall, dark, and handsome version of the original hinterhideout, reimagined by Nicolas Chaudier.
Wrapped in dark wood in a nod to Nordic getaways, this sculptural structure was inspired by the works of Canadian artist Rolland Poulin. The monochromatic mass responds uniquely to its woodsy setting with every changing of the season. The property's dark exterior is brightened by windowed viewpoints, and covered terraces line each of its three levels, creating protected walkways in the woods. Built to speak to its deep woods location, the cabin is a redesign and expansion of hinter’s original hinterhideout location.
The interior is dark, cozy, mysterious and well-defined, a place of clean-lined furnishings and an ebony palette, accented by sculptural art—a chalet that reads more contemporary art gallery than simple cabin in the woods. That said, the generous use of glass and the home’s deeply protected patio spaces place residents firmly in the forest.
An outdoor sauna serves as another outpost offering a window into the woods, and the outdoor hot tub and modern firebox keep things cozy.
Around
Set in a clearing in the Laurentian Mountains, the nearest town Mont Tremblant village, the property stands in prime outdoor recreation country. Hiking, skiing, kayaking and canoeing, snowshoeing, sledding, golfing and fishing, mountain biking and forest bathing and foraging… the possibilities are numerous! The woods cover thousands of acres and encompass the ski resorts of Mont Tremblant and Mont Blanc, the Rouge River Valley, Mont Tremblant National Park, Lac Long, and several other regional mountain lakes. Outdoor activities are all-season, from the expected, such as skiing, snowboarding and winter sports, to the less-anticipated pursuits such as falconing, ziplining, and sunbathing on sandy beaches along the Riviere Rouge.
