History & Elegant Modern Simplicity Brought To Life
This little hotel in Sicily was built on the site of an old farmhouse, using as much of the original structures as possible. Today it's a clean, modern space geared towards relaxation, surrounded in nature and history.
There are eight separate rooms, suites, and apartments, each with its own character - as well as a large outdoor, saltwater pool, expansive gardens, orchards and a vegetable garden.
History & Elegant Modern Simplicity Brought To Life
This small luxury hotel in Italy was created out of an old farm on the outskirts of Ispica. Work was completed in mid-2016, and we love the way in which old has been blended with new.
As much of the original buildings as possible was preserved - parts of the original stone walls remain, with doorframes made from local stone. There is an elegant simplicity in its clean, bright, mostly white backdrop, brought to life with bursts of colorful textiles and ceramics.
The hotel was created to be in harmony with the environment around it. Guests are invited to an evening aperitif on the hill as the sun goes down, and there a number of individual hanging chairs dotted around the garden. On request, local cooking classes or wine tastings can be arranged in the hotel's kitchen.
The property is eco-friendly, strives for energy self-sufficiency, and reuses its wastewater. The newly constructed pool uses saltwater, and seasonal products from the garden are offered to guests.
The entire property sleeps around 29 guests, in two apartments, five double rooms, and one suite.
VAL DI NOTO
The hotel is located in the town of Ispica, 29 miles from Siracusa and 17.4 miles from Ragusa. It's famous for its baroque architecture, most notably the 18th-century Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Loggiato del Sinatra, which was built in 1749 based on the design for St. Peter’s Square in Rome.
Other sites worth visiting include the Forza Archaeological Park, an area which is about 13km long and rich in historical settlements, churches and rock tombs. The nearby coast has long, sandy beaches from Marza and Porto Ulisse through Castellazzo to Pozzallo. Excursions on horseback, boat or bicycle can be arranged.
