A Private Eight-Suite Villa for Groups in Tulum's La Veleta
La Chamana is an eight-suite house in La Veleta, Tulum, that sleeps up to 16 across eight en-suite bedrooms, and it's built around eleven distinct spaces, from a temazcal to a private theater, each meant to hold a different part of a group's day.
That day can move from quiet coffee in a private suite to an ice bath or a temazcal steam ritual by afternoon, and end around the long table in the main dining room, without anyone needing to leave the property.
Creative direction came from Manuel Freixas, who built the whole concept around one idea: a single key that opens every space, so a guest decides where a stay begins rather than following a set path through the house. Pía Vivo led the art direction, and the build itself works in a style local to La Veleta: natural stone, low-saturation earth tones, open-air arches, and local wood. Each of the eight suites has its own bathroom.
Outside, the property has its own pool and reflecting pools, which sit just off the dining room and are one of our favorite details after dark. The home sits close enough to La Veleta's café and gallery strip to walk to dinner, and Tulum's beach clubs and cenotes are all a short drive away.
