Beautiful Bolthole in Provence
Dating from the 16th century, this intimate hideaway is located at the heart of Biot, a classic French cobblestoned village offering an authentic slice of Provence, with easy access to the luxuries of the French Riviera.
More than 400 years ago, the picturesque village retreat housed a pottery studio—one of the area’s longstanding artisanal traditions—and it has been respectfully renovated to retain its historical character. Exposed stone walls with pottery inlays contain an open-plan kitchen, a cozy lounge area, a quirky bathroom with a carved rock shower and a whimsical bedroom that’s set in the original kiln.
Ideal for a romantic getaway, the cozy home is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac, offering plenty of natural light and all the classic charms of Provence a short distance from the coastline.
Around
Biot is a true Provençal treasure, a fortified medieval hilltop town located between Nice and Cannes, near Antibes, and with sweeping views of the French Riviera. Its meandering cobblestone streets are adorned with flowers, and the small community is known for its artistic heritage and creative culinary scene. Fernand Leger’s National Art Museum is one of the town’s main draws, as is its fort, dramatically perched above the village’s cobbled lanes. Biot's scenic streets are stacked with tile-roofed, stone residences, many awash in pale Provençal hues. The town is known today for its glass blowers and is a designated “Art and Artisanal” town, that's widely considered the modern glass capital of France.
The village has easy access to the sparkling French Riviera with all its glamour, nightlife, pretty beaches and storied coves, but it also offers outdoor enthusiasts a 480-hectare regional park, La Brague, where hiking trails, rivers, waterfalls and rocky outcroppings allow for plenty of adventure. And a traditional Provençal farmers/producers market is held weekly in the heart of the village.
