Well situated for exploring the hills and vineyards of Provence, as well as the glittering coastal towns of St Tropez, Nice, Cannes and Monaco, it's a quiter jumping off point for the less touristy areas of the south. Known as the gateway to Verdon, Draguignan is within easy reach of the spectacular river canyon that's not to be missed.
The Massif des Maures hills are an hour's drive, with the classic Provencal villages of Bormes les Mimosa, Gassin, Cogolin and Collobrieres all nearby.
Dotted with some of the best beaches in the Bay of Cavalaire including Plage du Debarquement, Bouillabaise, Vergeron, Sylvabelle, Héraclée, Gigaro, Jovat and Brouis, all backed by pine covered Maures Massif, most of which is now a protected nature reserve. Several picturesque Provencal villages are within a short drive including Ramatuelle, Gassin and Port Grimaud.
