A Traditional Timbered Chalet Fully Renovated for a Modern Crowd

The vast, modernized chalet’s six bedrooms can sleep up to 15 (12 adults and 3 children) and the property’s open-plan, timbered living, dining, bar and kitchen areas are majestic, with their dramatic alpine views enhanced by plump furnishings. The living area is punctuated by a fireplace and offers an elevated terrace looking out across the craggy neighboring peaks.

Each of the property’s six bedrooms comes with a private bath, and one room is a family room for five. There’s a movie room, playroom, ski stash room and a fully equipped in-home spa/relaxation room with a heated swimming pool that opens to the garden, a sauna, gym, and private massage room.

Outside, a private garden combines decking and lawn space, and is equipped with a picnic table, barbecue/grill, and loungers set in the shadow of the mountains. Daily housekeeping is included, and the owners offer concierge services, arrange equipment rentals and ski passes and instruction, schedule in home massage and wellness treatments, and offer continental breakfast service or an in-home chef by reservation.

One of France’s perennial favorites, the ski resort of Méribel is part of one of the world’s largest ski areas, Les Trois Vallées, set in the scenic Savoie region. Authentically alpine, Méribel’s chalets in wood and stone are clustered in a dramatic mountain landscape dense with evergreens, the rocky crags of the Alps rising dramatically into the skyline all around. Les Trois Vallées offers 600 kilometers of interconnected slopes, encompassing the resorts of Méribel and Courchevel, La Tania, Val Thorens, St Martin and Orelles. Méribel itself has over 60 slopes for all levels and an Open Park considered one of Europe’s most fun and beautiful. Nordic skiers can find their place here, too, on groomed trails within the Altiport forest or around Lake Tuéda.

While a world-class ski destination, Méribel also offers warmer weather recreation. Hikers can amble around high altitude lakes or climb vigorously up rock strewn summits. A cycling path tops the Col de la Loze, and the slopes make for great summertime family fun. There are guided canyoneering outfitters, rafting in local river gorges, horseback riding in the wide open, flower-dotted valleys and clearings, and plenty of yoga, wellness and rejuvenation options. Restaurants range from the casually classic fondue and raclette spots to pizzerias, chalets serving hearty French mountain fare, and dozens of fine dining, locally sourced, Michelin-worthy tables.
