Fortified and arranged around a once-enclosed courtyard, this monumental manor farm, built in the 16th century, has undergone ten years of extensive renovation while retaining its original appearance. The outbuildings and former chapel have been converted into five, spacious, independent accommodations. Lime rendering, exposed stonework, large windows define the property.

A Peaceful Haven in Normandy’s Green Pastures

It was love at first sight when the owners of this small luxury hotel in France first came upon the pastoral, 16th century property isolated in a verdant pasture in deep Normandy. For 10 years, the fortified farm was attentively renovated, and today it has become a tranquil retreat where historic stones and contemporary art and furnishings combine artfully, creating a refined, country manor that’s a haven of peace and beauty.

Isolated in the green fields of Normandy, this historic agricultural hamlet is named “The Rocks” for its sturdy stony buildings dating from the 16th century. The structures once created a fortified agricultural compound and have been painstakingly renovated and lovingly transformed from ancient farm into refined country inn.

The ancient manor house today features rustic old stone contrasted with modern art and classic contemporary furnishings from the Art Deco era to today’s modern designs. The tranquil setting makes the perfect home base for exploring Normandy, from the Landing Beaches to Mont St. Michel, the wild, flowering Norman coast to the region’s iconic orchards, farmlands, and picturesque villages. The manor’s bucolic setting prioritizes relaxation and slow living on site, too. Outdoor living areas, from dining spaces to chaise loungers are set throughout the expansive property’s garden, a well-stocked library is open to guests, and pétanque and badminton courts are offered on site. Breakfast is served daily in a converted barn, and dinners are possible by reservation.

Choose from four spacious bedrooms and an independent cottage, each created to offer maximum serenity and relaxation and each with its own unique character.

La Une is a duplex with a private entrance offering a wide open hearth downstairs and a contemporary mezzanine queen bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

La Deux is a open-plan studio under the eaves featuring a queen bedroom and living area with a wood-burning stove, accessible via an exterior staircase up to its private terrace entrance.

La Trois is a contemporary garden suite that opens outdoors to the manicured lawn. Sundrenched and sleek, it has a wood burning stove, queen bed, and a bath with a shower as well as its own, private entrance.

La Quatre is a two-room upstairs queen suite with a large bathroom equipped with both a shower and tub. A couch bed (double) is available in the second room that also features an office space. The suite offers private access to the home’s snooker lounge and a private entrance. It is well suited for small families.

La Cinq is an independent, two-story cottage for two with a double bed and dressing room, shower and fully-equipped kitchen, plus a wood stove.
