History Lives On In A Lovingly Preserved Village House
Set in a tiny 12th-century village in the southwestern region of Provence, this tasteful and authentic home has been completely restored with the materials and flavor of its original inhabitants, along with a few elegant touches.
The centuries-old structure has been left undisturbed, with respectful and careful attention paid to detail and history. All original stone and beamed ceilings remain along with the graceful and sloping wine caverns. Rustic and elegant, the handcrafted decor and furnishings include found and reclaimed items as well as a few sparkling contemporary accents.
The two main living spaces feature intimate ways to interact with the home including a comfy sitting room and the larger area with a stately stone fireplace.
With a total of three bedrooms, the ground floor guest room opens out to the gardens while the two upper rooms each have views of the village and the surrounding landscape. Each has been expanded and updated to include en-suite baths and additional space for accomodations of up to seven guests.
The gourmet kitchen sticks with the rustic ambiance and skillfully camouflages the modern amenities and can serve up to ten in the dining area or a few alfresco in the garden.
The leafy courtyard with outdoor dining and plunge pool is a private indulgence and a quiet place to lounge.
Striking a balance between historic appreciation and chic design, this home hits a home run on both fronts..
A QUIET UNDISCOVERED CORNER IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE
