A Low Impact, High Style Passive House In Kent
Located in the charming seaside town of Whitstable just minutes from the shore, this extra-large holiday letting in England combines eco-friendly design and stylish comforts. Sticking to rigorous standards of energy efficiency, Ramelow has crafted the home for low impact along with chic creature comforts.
Imaginatively designed, the home features a unique, stacked profile with spacious, open-plan interiors, distinctive and unexpected angles that offer new and innovative ways to organize space, and loads of natural light.
Set on two levels, the entry steps down into the living areas, with an open-plan lounge and dining area adjacent to the kitchen and ample room to share.
Upstairs are four bedrooms and a mezzanine sleeping area in the eaves which kids will love. Punctuated with skylights throughout, the house stays bright and cheery even during the cooler months.
Outside is a large terrace for dining and entertaining, with an extra-large garden for outdoor play.
KENT
The Kent coast is home to many picturesque seaside villages and towns and Whitstable on the north coast happily retains its traditional English feel. Lined with colorful cottages, shopfronts, pubs, and a lively harbor, the town is also home to a thriving arts scene with several excellent galleries and studios around town.
No visit is complete, however, without digging into some of the region's best seafood, especially the oysters it's known for (if your timing aligns check out the annual Whitstable Oyster Festival in late July). There are sand and pebble beaches along the seafront for strolling and you'll be just a couple of miles west of Herne Bay.
The Swale National Nature Reserve is just across the Thames estuary on the Isle of Sheppey and is an ideal day trip for birdwatching.
At the heart of Kent and within just five miles of Whitstable is the enchanting city of Canterbury with the spellbinding cathedral at its heart. Encircled by ancient Roman walls and bisected with narrow cobbled stone streets along the River Stour, the medieval city is one of Europe's historic Crown Jewels. Bustling with tourists in high season, it's a wonderful walking town with plenty of pubs, shops, and restaurants to discover.
Known for hundreds of years as the "Garden of England," Kent's stunning scenery is punctuated with lush green hills and farmland and gentile country estates including Hall Place Gardens, Sissinghurst Castle, and Penhurst Place as well as the famous White Cliffs of Dover.
London is just under an hour.
