New Wave Beach Lodge
Five suites, bookable collectively or independently, with jungle views and a flexible, cohabitation-space-boutique-getaway vibe, fill a hip, neo-Brutalist, multilevel residential complex in the laid-back surf station of Sayulita, a five-minute walk from the central plaza, the town's famous breaks and the beach.
Art-splashed and alfresco-focused, the five unique suites share two common areas. One—a central terrace with a heated saltwater lap pool, chef’s kitchen, bar, and powder room—offers a party “central” platform accessed via a floating, garage-styled concrete stairwell, where up to 30 can hang out with the jungle as backdrop. The other is more intimate—an open-air rooftop terrace framed by concrete posts holding a saltwater plunge pool, barbecue area, fire pit and Pacific views.
Each suite is unique and created for two, and has been featured in Interior Design Magazine's Hospitality Issue.
Horizon Suite Offering jungle canopy views and a eye on Sayulita’s rolling breaks, this street-level suite includes a kitchenette and open floor plan, and features a neo-Brutalist, concrete-forward design.
Terrace Suite Holding up the middle ground adjacent to the generous central terrace commons, this suite with a compact kitchenette has wood flooring that extends outdoors onto the open terrace lush with plants.
Papelillo Suite This big, bad corner unit is a spacious suite distinguished by floor-to-ceiling windows, a generous living room and a large kitchenette, with a fully-immersed-in-the-jungle vibe.
Palma Suite With a wall of windows covering three sides and pale drapery to soften the mood, this romantic suite has a private terrace, cozy, in-room seating and a kitchenette.
Jungle Suite The ultimate, open-to-the-elements space occupies the complex’s lowest level, with retractable walls that expand the suite outdoors and a central soaking tub for a spa-like setting.
Around
Perched on a slope with jungle and water views, a quick, five-minute stroll from Sayulita’s central plaza and commercial zone of boutiques, cafes and shops accessible down traditional neighborhood streets, the property offers a build-your-own-style menu of experiences and amenities. Yoga, bartenders, massage, in-complex chefs, and activity guides from surf instructors to scenic- and landmark-type tour leaders are available by request. Known for its surf breaks and authentic, small town atmosphere, Sayulita is an unassuming beach destination devoid of glitzy resorts and big box stores on Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit, some 25 miles from Puerto Vallarta.
Local artisans and indigenous Huichol craftspeople sell their handiwork in town shops, and straightforward family-run cafes offer coastal delicacies and fresh juices. Surfers appreciate the strong and consistent break, and the Pacific beach is backed by the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains and fronted to the southwest by the Marieta Islands, land of humpback whales and schools of dolphins. Once a modest fishing village, Sayulita is still a place where locals and tourists share the waterfront and enjoy scuba diving and surfing, game fishing and other watersports, together. For more typical Mexican resort nightlife, head to Puerto Vallarta, a half hour away.
