This is a wonderful villa for rent in Provence for families and large groups of friends.

This restored dry-stone farmhouse sits on a hillside, just five minutes' walk from the medieval village of Seillans. It's the unspoiled Provence of picture postcards and within easy reach of the French Riviera.

As if the surroundings weren't appealing enough, the property has a 15m infinity pool in a large private garden filled with olive trees, lavender and old pines. There are also two stone terraces, one for lounging and one for dining, as well as a hammock under the trees, and a pétanque pitch. It's a space ideal for spending long, lazy days in the sun.

The house has been fully modernized but retains its traditional character - original wooden beams, carefully selected rustic wooden floors, lovely shuttered windows, stone tiles and a beautiful stone spiral staircase. The ground floor has a living room with an open fireplace, a dining room with a striking vaulted ceiling, an open-plan kitchen with exposed beams and stone tiles, plus one double bedroom with its own private entrance.

On the first floor, there are four double bedrooms and three bathrooms (two en-suite and one shared). The attic holds the sixth bedroom, as well as a cute kids' playroom with enough bedding for four. There is also a small bathroom.

LA VILLE PERCHE DE SEILLANS

The house is only minutes away from Seillans, which was voted one of the most beautiful villages in France by Reader's Digest. It is a ville perché (perched hill-top village), with a steeply inclined medieval center, castle, and 13th-century church, only accessible on foot.

There is a great bakery and a typical Provencal cafe close to the house. The local markets are perfect for gathering fresh produce for lunches. There are great roads for biking nearby, and Nice is within easy driving distance.
