An Original William Krisel
It's always fun to see how people live in and interpret the work of the mid-century modernists, and this original William Krisel home is bold, earthy, and a little edgy. Located in one of our favorite desert destinations, it makes a dramatic statement, translating the aesthetics of retro desert Americana into the 21st century.
Located below the dramatic San Jacinto mountains and just outside of downtown Palm Springs, this mid-century home has all of the striking modern proportions and retro character that represents the golden age in architectural expression.
Built in 1960 by The Alexander Building Company and designed by William Krisel, the original post and beam architecture, and clean lines are part of the rich legacy of mid-century style that are beautifully preserved here.
Updating both the exteriors and interiors with simple, stylized design elements, the bold use of saturated black is offset by the warm wood accents and chic mix of southwestern and modern furnishings and decor.

The open plan living area features lofty vaulted wood ceilings with a fireplace and seating for twelve overlooking the pool and gardens. The adjacent kitchen and dining area have been redesigned with monochromatic Aztec tile and are well equipped for entertaining, serving up to ten.
The main house features an en suite master bedroom and two additional guest rooms and can accommodate up to eight, while the adjacent casita is fully equipped for two with a private kitchen, bath and patio area. The walled gardens are an oasis of native landscaping and poolside lounge areas. Warm and sophisticated, the style and sensibilities of this era never fades and this home preserves the best of the era for modern living.
