An Original William Krisel
It's always fun to see how people live in and interpret the work of the mid-century modernists, and this original William Krisel home is bold, earthy and a little edgy. Located in one of our favorite desert destinations, it makes a dramatic statement, translating the aesthetics of retro desert Americana into the 21st century.

Located in one of our favorite desert destinations, it makes a dramatic statement, translating the aesthetics of retro desert Americana into the 21st century.
Located below the dramatic San Jacinto mountains and just outside of downtown Palm Springs, this mid-century home has all of the striking modern proportions and retro character that represents the golden age in architectural expression.
Built in 1960 by The Alexander Building Company and designed by William Krisel, the original post and beam architecture, and clean lines are part of the rich legacy of mid-century style that are beautifully preserved here.
Updating both the exteriors and interiors with simple, stylized design elements, the bold use of saturated black is offset by the warm wood accents and chic mix of southwestern and modern furnishings and decor.

The open plan living area features lofty vaulted wood ceilings with a fireplace and seating for twelve overlooking the pool and gardens. The adjacent kitchen and dining area have been redesigned with monochromatic Aztec tile and are well equipped for entertaining, serving up to ten.
The main house features an en suite master bedroom and two additional guest rooms and can accommodate up to eight, while the adjacent casita is fully equipped for two with a private kitchen, bath and patio area. The walled gardens are an oasis of native landscaping and poolside lounge areas. Warm and sophisticated, the style and sensibilities of this era never fades and this home preserves the best of the era for modern living.

What a beautiful property! We really enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous spot, close to the Joshua Tree and other destinations. Highly recommended.
This house is fantastic and the hosts are wonderful. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.
We had a phenomenal stay at Katie’s house. The pictures don’t really do it justice. The pool and bathrooms are brand new. That was a nice surprise. The house is very stylishly decorated in desert modern. There were lovely touches throughout like organic cotton towels, upscale shampoos and soaps and an amazingly well stocked kitchen. Katie was a fantastic host. She responded in seconds to every message. One time I asked her for some items her house didn’t have and she had them delivered to me by the end of the day. I never had a host do that before. A few reviews said the house was noisy. We didn’t find it that way at all. Just the opposite—total relaxation. An added bonus is the casita which allowed my son who lives in N California to fly down for several days and still have his privacy. We loved the house so much we already booked for next year.
This space is beautifully decorated, thoughtfully curated, comfortable, and relaxing. We enjoyed the stay with our young family and would love to come back! I can’t recommend it enough.
We had a wonderful family stay and enjoyed soaking up the sunshine in this beautiful home. Everything went smooth and the host/manager were very accommodating. My teenage son enjoyed staying in the guesthouse and I think it made him feel like he had his own apartment:-) My only complaint is not to the hosts but Palm Springs in general. There was a lot of outside noise. Heavy traffic and every neighbor around us running saws and lawnmowers from morning til night. It would be nice to drown some of it out with music. Some of the rules seem odd to us. But that’s beyond anyone’s control and we understand that. Thank you for the wonderful stay!
Ample space, great backyard and casita. Perfect for a large family vacation
