A Home & Art Studio On Skyros

Located on the windswept shores of Skyros, the southernmost island in the Sporades archipelago, this house sits above the coast and just outside of the town with breathtaking views out to sea.

Created and designed by an Athens-based Greek artist as a summer art studio, the home is surrounded by the natural beauty of the island on over an acre of secluded land and pine forest. The traditional Aegean architecture is pure in its cubist lines and simple execution with the whitewashed exteriors harmonizing perfectly with the unique landscape.

Divided into two wings, the house is ideal for a family or two couples and can also be separated into two completely independent units. Each is fully equipped with individual kitchens and baths with four spacious verandas for relaxing privacy.

The white and grey palette is soothing and serene with subtle contemporary style. Simply furnished and decorated with charming country decor and a few key pieces from the artist's collection, this is the kind of place we could settle in and stay for a while.

THE NATURA 2000 SPORADES ARCHIPELAGO

One of the more remote islands in the Sporades archipelago, Skyros is fairly rural and the least developed in the chain. Pefkos Beach is the best on the island and is just a two-minute drive or short walk away.

The picturesque main town is within a fifteen-minute drive and is perched along the shoreline on the hillside overlooking the Aegean. Dominated by a medieval castle, it's small but vibrant with narrow winding streets, charming family restaurants, galleries and traditional Cycladic architecture.

One of the most important islands for biodiversity conservation, the protected areas are part of the NATURA 2000 network of protected sites in EU. The south side features wild rugged mountains with amazing views of the sea, while the north side features evergreen pine forests and lovely hidden beaches.

Skyros, Greece. Nearest Airport: Skyros Airport (with flights from Athens and Thessaloniki) or ferry departs from the port of Kimi in Evia island, while in summer there is local ferry connection to Skopelos and Alonissos
